Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Is there a thread dicussing Voip calls with your smartphone?

Can you use Skype over a wifi connection to make a call for free?

Can you install Skype on your mobile if it is not already installed on it?

    JB

Skype has a client program for windows mobile phones.
If you're not on 3 you can use Fring - http://www.fring.com/ on Symbians
Can be used over wifi, otherwise normal network data rates apply

    Thanks Brophis.

    Any feedback on Fring?

And can you use AIM messenger (not MSN)?

Haven't used it yet, only recently found out about it myself and haven't had time to test it. I like the way fring supports more than just skype. No reference to AIM though.

Fring doesn't do AIM directly but Fring does do ICQ and you can add AIM contacts to ICQ. Not sure how the whole voice thing would work out but you certainly should be able to text message your AIM contacts.

There has also been some talk lately of Google Talk and AIM becoming interoperable but as of yet it's still only talk.

Fring works great on wi-fi and also pretty well on a good 3G signal. Fring texting doesn't seem to use up much battery but doing voice over wi-fi or 3G will definitely have an impact.
