There seems to be theme for submission guides and comments going on at the mo - Jen De Guzman, editor-in-chief over at Slave Labour Graphics, has posted some of her thoughs on submitting to SLG

Particularly like no 2 - Comparisons of your work with TV shows or movies in the cover letter. I have heard the "Big Two" encourage this kind of self-loathing, but I say love the media you're using, dammit.

So sick of hearing people pitch comics with "and it would transfer easily into a great animated show/tv series/film - get the comic right first then worry about selling your soul for merchandising.
