Thinking of updating the barge

I currently have a 98 2.0l Omega. I wasn't really thinking of changing it for another while but I came across this http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=813621.

Although its only a year younger it has 50K less miles than mine. It looked in mint condition and had all the extras. Also I was happy to stay with the same car. Unfortunately when I rang yesterday it had been sold 3 or 4 days ago.

Now I've got it in my head that I want to update. I'd hope not to spend over €2500, engine not more than 2.0l but if the right car came up I might stretch a bit. For example a Xedos 9 Miller engine (probably too wishful price wise).

Something along the lines of Omega, Accord, Camry. Legacy (might be a bit too thirsty), Saab 9000/9-5, Volvo S/V70

Scorpios and Maximas push things too far in the ugliness department.

E class and 5 series would be too old for this price range. I think A6s are similarly priced.

    Nothing French or Italian.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be interested in looking at them.

I would if it weren't for the 3.5 litres. Who knows how much that will cost next year.

A bit smaller than the Omega in size but high enough spec and it a 2000 reg:

Thanks for the suggestion but I do make use out the bigger size of my car. I surf quite a bit and going for weekends away transporting 4 guys with boards and all the gear even the Omega struggles for space at times.

Also I have a general preferance for bigger cars - more of a luxury feel to them and more extras in most cases.

The Omega aint up to a whole lot really.

You would be better of getting a slightly older 5 series Beemer or Merc for the same money, they are miles better than the Omega

That Mondeo would be a better option too if your after a newer plate - its a far better car than the Omega.

Your right the Legacy will be thirsty but ultra reliable, the Camry is not up to much.

Saab's or Volvo's tend to feel a bit old but the ones of this era are fairly reliable as far as I know.
