Can anyone tell me where I might get a hedgehog?? I have a large back garden with plenty of shrubs and heaps of leaves and would really lke to add some wildlife. I don't have any pets that would cause distress and the garden is quiet all year round. I'd appreciate any information, thanks!

Hedgehogs are protected under Irish law so you can't just kidnap one and shove it in your back garden unfortunately :) It's also hibernation time for hedgies so you're less likely to see any in your garden.

You can try to encourage them into your garden - the two (UK based) sites below give some info on that.

Be careful about inticing them in if you have a dog especially a terrier, our pooch goes mental after the one in our garden, barking at it for ages whilst the hedgehog is curled up in a ball probably wandering wtf is going on.

I didn't know that they were protected! Hopefully one might take a shine to my garden and just wonder in!! Thanks for the links and the info.
