Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. Givens has named team:

    Given

    Finnan McShane O'Shea Kilbane

    Miller Carsley Reid McGeady

    Doyle Keane

Same team I would have picked with personnel available and finally looks like McGeady gets to play on the left where he excels for Celtic.

Nowhere near as bad as a lot of the media made out it would be all this week.

Not bad. Did Wales name theirs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

Toshack naming team tomorrow. They don't have much to choose from with injuries so I'd something like this:

    Hennessey

    Collins Evans Gabbidon Nyatanga

    Davies Fletcher Koumas Robinson

    Earnshaw Eastwood

WHAT?? Finnan playing at right back? And Kilbane playing at left back? Surely they're playing out of position. Miller playing?

    Stan

For once, I actually fancy our chances.

Horribly unbalanced midfield with Miller on the right. He's not a winger and I can see people slating him after the game for his performance, and it won't be his fault. A lot of added pressure for McGeady to deliver as the one wide player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

The midfield is unbalanced. Kilbane shouldn't play. That said, I think Miller can play on the right, but he's much better in the center. I think we'll win this game, but it won't be easy. Wales are really missing key players. God, it's been so long since I've seen Duff in an Ireland shirt.

You just have to look at that midfield to see how much trouble we're in. Wouldn't be surprised if we lose this one but I feel a bore draw is on the cards tonight.

Wow, the Commentary is ahead of the pictures :P

Not too bad so far, we're losing possetion a little easily though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

Seems apt. McGeadys feet are ahead of his brain.

    Typical RTE tho.

I switched onto Sky Sports but couldn't stand the commentary, so now I'm back on RTE.

I blame the gray jerseys. Like Alex Ferguson once pointed out it's hard to see your own players against the crowd of spectators. :D

At least Sky's coverage is consistent. I was shot down on here a while back for slating RTE's constant ****ing up of footy coverage and switching over. Apparently we should be "lucky" to have any coverage at all, or so I was abruptly told.

    Anyway, good goal by Wales.

It's actually looking like a good game. Kinda like Premiership 'B' All Stars :D

Especially when the Millenium Stadium is packed to its 76,000 capacity like it is today :p

Yea, we're phish, Wales fully deserve the lead.

Nice ball from Doyler for that goal.

Are Wales a top class team or is Robbie still shít?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,323 ✭✭✭Savman

    Smashing finish by himself there.

O'Shea gets a yellow for "over use of the mouth" according to Hamilton.

Yep John, try breathing thru your nose next time.

    Why is Ireland wearing grey?

I've never seen a home international tie so poorly attended, apart from one possible Scotland game under Vogts.

    Mike.

Thats possibly because it's not a home international Mike. ;)

    He meant the Welsh support.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

Ah! That's ok then. But has there not been lots of Welsh (football at least) games as poorly attended since the advent of the Millenium Stadium? I certainly thought so.

i was over there for the Walez- Czech republc tie and the attendance was as bad... even though it was giggs' last game

We look ok so far, miller is doing nothing on the right which is showing finnan up a bit aswell... hopefully we'll sneak a winner

it took the welsh right back all of 15 minutes to suss out McGeady too

Probably to boost sales of the grey jersey before Christmas because anyone who would consider wearing an irish jersey most likely already has the green one and possibly the white one too.

    What a save from Given

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

It wasn't a penalty, but it was certainly a foul.

    Finnan left his leg out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

Miller off. Reid should be off too.

It's really been few and far between seeing Ireland come from behind, go ahead and Still maintain decent pressure... fair play to Givens

I doubt Givens has much to do with it. The players are playing for their international futures against a very poor Welsh side.

FFS, George Hamilton "The campaign in Group D is ending on a high".

    Wales gonna score two now.
