Agreed, i don't want to get into an argument either! But you were tarring too many feathers with the one brush(is that even the way the saying goes?!) with you original post

Your right you didn't say anything about downloading divx, just like i never say i download roms. That was just my point.

I totally agree that about people talking about where to download games etc should get banned

Theres some great places to "download" games without any moral objections and everyone gets their fair share. It's a really simple transaction to boot. Just log on to blahdvd.com /sendit.com/play.com etc and click the title you want before accepting the transaction. The problem is that the download rate is quite slow....takes about a week typically but it comes bundled in a nice shiny box and is already saved to a portable drive for your convenience.

Maybe this thread needs a locking before it goes too far?

Goes too far? Its basically exactly what we are discussing about what is and isnt too far, its pretty safe to assume no one is going to mention anything bad on this thread as one person and his twin have been banned already and Retr0 has basically spelt out what will get you a ban!

EDIT: my 300th post ,THIS IS SPARTA!:)

not into taking sides, but the guy only asked for info. also, i would wager that everyone at one stage has used a pirate version of some entertainment.

" he who cast the first stone " and all that.

No i am 16 years old and dont care about "software" morals...welcome to the future...!

    Hi,
I'd like to make a small point to point out the flaw in the idea that pirating software "is the future".
I was made redundant from Electronic Arts last March. Don't worry this is not a sob story. I am employed again but not in games. Now I know EA doesn't produce any decent games but it is the biggest most stable games developer in the industry. Despite this EA they have since closed another studio in Chicago. They will survive, have no fear and will keep rolling out the same old muck!
Smaller studios have about a one in five chance of having a successful game and each of those games involves long hours of work for less pay than any other software industry. Most games developers do it for the love of games for a few years and then move on because the industry can't pay a decent wage.
Unfortunately that means the talent gets drained away and quality suffers as a result. Twenty years ago a team of six could produce a game for the Commodeore 64 or ZX Spectrum in a couple of months. Nowadays studios have to employ audio technicians, graphics gurus and people with physics PhDs to get a game to sell in decent numbers to make a profit. That's why EA depends on franchises like Tiger Woods and Fifa to make money. It's cheaper that way.
As for new original IP just look around. Most games are now just upgrades of older versions or tie in franchises that are proven to sell. Pirating games is not the future of gaming. In fact it spells the end of quality original games and a new age of endless clones by Microsoft and EA.
But I'm sure happydaze18n doesn't care about that either!
