Not a good time for the A340 at all. This happened in Toulouse, it was in the chocks undergoing an engine test. It managed to escape the chocks, and the front half of the aircraft was torn apart. 5 injured...

The A340 had three very serious incidents, two recently and one in Toronto without one fatality maybe Airbus can market this point! Not many planes can hold this record!

The BEA report says nothing of the kind:

BS posts like yours give spotters/wanabees a bad name.

No accident investigator worthy of the title would be so rash as to jump to the conclusion that you have drawn, without a full investigation of the facts.

By definition, the crew at the controls of this aircraft were fully trained, qualified professionals. For something of this magnitude to occur, there was a serious slippage. It may transpire that the full investigation highlights a human factors issue (on or off the flight deck), but you are in no position to make that call.

Let's just be thankful that there were no fatalities, and wish for a speedy recovery for those injured.

Here's a basic wordlingo translation of the above.

"Accident which has occurred on the aerodrome of Toulouse-Blagnac on November 15, 2007 Within the framework of the investigation on the accident which has occurred on November 15 on the aerodrome of Toulouse-Blagnac to Airbus 340-600 and of coordination with the legal authority, the two flight recorders (CVR and FDR) of the plane were transported to the head office of the BEA for reading yesterday afternoon. The data were recovered. They are of good quality. The plane was at a stop. The wheel chocks were not placed. A last driving test, on brakes, was in hand. The first validated information from the flight recorders shows that the four engines had been high power for approximately three minutes. The plane started to advance and struck a wall anti-breath thirteen seconds later. This stage, no dysfunction technical on the level of the brakes and the engines was highlighted. The investigation continues in order to determine the exact circumstances in which the event occurred. As after each accident, the BEA recommends to avoid any hasty interpretation or conclusions. It will communicate information additional according to the evolutions of the investigation of safety."

Why the wheel chocks were not in place is very strange during a high power run??

    *kol* thanks for the translation.

Taildragon, wind your neck in, refer to post 3, wait for the report. I merely stated what I was told the interim stated. I did not say the "crew" weren't qualified etc etc. Neither did I make a "call"

Never claimed to be an accident investigator either.

    Bad day at the office?

    Jeez...

    Does it show?

I may have misunderstood your post, and therefore sounded a little harsh.
