I've spent the last few hours trying to get the most out of a plasma and the ps3.
I have them connected with a hdmi cable ,quality when gaming etc. is fine. But the quality of watching blu-rays is not as good as I was expecting.

I know the tv I have can do better ,so I am thinking of going for a component cable ,so I have more control over whats going on. The hdmi seems to do it's own thing and it's making the picture look too sharp for me.

Am I wasting my time going for a component cable ? ,I feel it will solve the problem.
The native resolution of my tv is 1024 x 720.

All you can do is try it , it may work for you.

My panasonic LCD , when hooked up to the pc over component , seriously oversaturates the colours , not nice. And I cant adjust it without throwing the video card way off.
For me it works way better over HDMI.

My DVD player is fine over component though , so its not fault of the TV , more down to the graphics card I have.

With regards to the PS3 , have you exhausted all the video out settings yet , there are lots , my feeling would be that the PS3 is better over HDMI , thats where most of the effort went when designing this console after all.

Would PC DVI --> 337872.jpg --> HDMI on TV work?

Because my Sharp Aquos doesnt support 1080p over VGA

    thanks

DVI signals and HDMI signals are line for line identical , so yes it will work , the only thing missing off DVI is the audio , which you'll have to connect some other way.

Thanks mathias ,I discovered I can't upscale dvd's on component that have copy protection:rolleyes:

Is there anyway around the 235 ratio blocks on blu-ray ?
The panasonic ones seem to be very big.

Will most Full HD TV's support 1080P from a pc over HDMI? Purchased a Sony KDL40T3500 and it appears that it doesn't support it over VGA cable.

I just purchased a graphics card for my pc ,8600GT and it makes connecting the tv so much easier.

The graphics card is the issue ,when it comes to connecting up a tv I think.

Nvidia seem to have gone to a lot of trouble ,to produce TV quality colours etc. My last card X1300 ,had bad ghosting etc.

Brians right , the graphics card must support 1080p and obviously the TV , that being the case any HDMI cable will do the job.

Monster ( bites back the hatred ) will have you believe that there are different ratings for HDMI cable , thats complete and utter bull , dont fall for it.

For a nice quiet graphics card ( passive heatsinks , no fans ) the best of the current crop are ,

    ATI 2400 or 2600
    Nvidia 8500 or 8600 ,

These cards are cheap , they are not top of the range gamer cards but will play a lot of games , their main purpose is for home entertainment , movies and such , some come with HDMI adaptors but remember that DVI and HDMI are signal for signal compatible so if the card only has DVI then a simple cable is all thats needed.
