need 2 downgrade an american psp 2.6 and put on custom firmware. can custom firmware unlock region coding on umd films? thanks.

Yes CFW unlocks rregion coding on UMDs.
Downgrading 2.6FW is dead easy, no need for GTA or Luminies.

First upgrade to 2.71 FW.
http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=12&fid=8046&catid=163
Put the file in PSP/GAME/UPDATE and rename EBOOT.PBP and it will update PSP to 2.71FW

2 different 2.71 downgraders depending on PSP motherboard version. If you open UMD drive and there is some writing on motherboard in top right hand corner, you have TA-082,086.
