Hi im planning a new computer. But am a bit lost.:o

So I want the setup to be where the pc is used for poker, internet downloading and watching movies (including downloaded HD movies/trailers etc)...and then the ps3 is used for games/blu ray. But I want the PS3 in full 1080p.

    I cant decide on a monitor:confused:

    1. Is the Benq 241vw overkill for movies? It has HMDI and 1080p, 1:1 pixel thingying. Theres not much price difference between that and the FP241wz.

2.The Samsung syncmaster 245b also looks good but no HDMI connection. But half the price.

Is it possible to connect a PS3 to it with 1080p?

And a dell 2407 is out because theyve stopped selling them here.

The minimum requirements are quite low for playing back HD content according to apple.

    * 3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium D (dual-core) or faster processor
    * At least 1GB of RAM
    * 64MB or greater video card
    * Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista

So could i just get by with an ok pc with onboard graphics? Can an onboard graphics card handle the 1900x1200 of the monitor or do I need to buy a separate gfx card. If so what is a decent card considering I wont be gaming, just playing movies. Radeon HD 2600?

Is an Intel Coer 2 duo 6750 too much, and 1 gig ram?

    Thanks for any help!:)

get 2 gig ram ,if your on a budget maybe, you could buy tv with dvi, connect pc thru, dvi out from graphics card, but i dont know if can watch hd dvds thru dvi,i think you need vista pc,with graphics card thats hdcp enabled ,and monitor /tv thats hdcp compatible, if i presume you want to watch blueray or hddvd at full resolution.HDCP IS like a copy protection scheme for dvd/blue ray.i bought a brand new hdtv ,no idea if its hdcp compatible, just got it for tv,and xbox use,it plays pc games at 1080i resolution.read spec sheets on card,tv,be4 you spend 800plus euros.

Overclockers have an awesome 24" Hyundai 1080p for €545 delivered

You dont need much of a pc to play full hd,but onboard stuff isnt enough it will struggle badly at full hd....

If you have a half decent pc (that minimum spec one) add a new video card like a HD 2400pro and your set...A HD2400pro is a better card for high def playback than much more expensive cards like HD 2900 etc

If your pc doesnt meet minimum spec a dell one like this would be perfect..

    E-Value Code
    305-D11V204

    PROCESSOR Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E2140 Processor (1.6GHz,800MHz,1MB cache) edit
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Professional - English edit
HARDWARE SUPPORT Base Warranty - 1 Year Business Hardware Support edit
MONITOR No 19" Wide Monitor edit
    MEMORY 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024] edit
HARD DRIVE 250GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache edit
GRAPHICS CARD Integrated Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100 edit
OPTICAL DRIVE 16x DVD +/- RW Drive edit
KEYBOARD Dell™ Entry Quietkey USB Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY) edit
MOUSE Dell 2 Button USB Optical Mouse

    € 373.39 Delivered

Note Xp works fine with 1gb,Vista needs 2gb imo..

You could probably go cheaper, but downloading movies, while watching full hd at the same time and so on,will benefit from 2gb and a 250gb which is minimum for downloading hd video imo..
