Not my favourite Sabbath album, but every song on it is a classic that holds up by itself. Great stuff

Deserves it's place for "Planet Caravan" alone, quality song.

Their first album is good, but I think the sabs had a long look at it and filtered out some of the stuff that isn't quite up to it (e.g. evil woman) but kept to the sound of the songs Black Sabbath and the truly classic NIB, and used this as their template for Paranoid, which is much more mature and has much more direction. Some of metals greatest songs can be found on this album e.g. war pigs, and paranoid, if not the greatest metal song ever which is 'Iron Man'. But also classics like Planet Caravan, Hand of Doom and Electric Funeral.

Killer Riffs, Detuned Guitars (for a bit of extra heavyness), and a drum solo worth listening to

Indeed. I had someone bitch at me a while ago for suggesting Led Zep 4.

Often change my mind on Sabbath's best album, but few could argue that Paranoid is classic rock.
