    Returns Policy
    Returns

In the event that you do experience a difficulty with your O2 device, we will be happy to help. The returns procedure for your device depends on how long it is since you bought it and where you originally bought your device.

    Less than 7 days
If you are unhappy with the device you purchased and provided you haven’t used it, you can return it to O2 for a full refund. This should be done within 7 working days of receipt of the device.
If you bought your device online, you must return your device to our Freepost address below. This is in accordance with the Distance Sales Regulations.

You will need to include your Proof of Purchase which originally came with your phone.

    The returns Freepost address is:
    O2 Online Returns
    FREEPOST Bray 50
    Ballywaltrin Business Park
    Boghall Road
    Bray
    Co Wicklow

If you bought your device in an O2 Retail Store, then you can return your device for refund in any O2 Retail Store. If you buy a phone as a Speak easy Christmas gift, we will allow the item to be returned for a refund up until the 5th of January, provided it hasn't been used.

    Less than 30 days
If your device becomes faulty within the first 30 days of purchase, then you are entitled to a fully boxed replacement device or a refund - whichever you prefer. If you bought your device online, then to avail of either a refund or a new replacement device, you must send your device back to us by Freepost - address below.

    O2 Online Returns
    FREEPOST Bray 50
    Ballywaltrin Business Park
    Boghall Road
    Bray
    Co Wicklow

Unfortunately we cannot facilitate a replacement or refund within 30 days within an O2 Retail Store for Online purchases. If you bought your device in an O2 Retail Store, then you can return it to an O2 Retail Store. If you receive a phone as a Speak easy Christmas gift, we will provide you with a refund within 30 days of the 25th of December, if the phone has become faulty.

    More than 30 days
If your device becomes faulty after 30 days and it is within the warranty period applicable to the device, you can return it to us by Freepost or you can go into your nearest O2 Store. Provided the fault is not excluded under the terms of the warranty, we will give you an immediate replacement. No need to wait for a repair, we'll just give you a replacement device straight away. You will need to remember your receipt, which you will have received with your device. All customers can avail of the SOS service in O2 Stores once they have had their device for more than 30 days and they are in possession of their receipt.

As a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

If you don't fit into any of these categorys then it's unlikely they'll refund it, but call 1909 and see.

well if the device is perfect but the service is faulty or flawed what choices do you have with o2?

they are not very interested in situations where customers buy a phone and cant get service in the centre of a large town! i'm sure it is the same with their data modem so good luck dealing with them!

All wireless services are technically flawed in that they are effected by things such as distance from transmitter, weather conditions, location, obstacles in the way, number of users in your area, etc. None of them are perfect. These are something that the company can do little about and something the end user will normally have to accept in the terms and conditions before signing up.

In the town I'm from, there's no Vodafone coverage in the Vodafone shop. It doesn't stop them from selling phones, they just make no guarantee of coverage everywhere, no mobile operator can. If you buy a phone and it doesn't work at your house, or somewhere in particular, then there's not a lot can be done. If you get back to them immediately then you might get a refund, but it's probably up to the company as a good will gesture.

If you're not in any of the categories listed by ciaranfo then contact O2 as he says. If you're not happy with the service then explain this and say you're not willing to pay any more. If they say you can't do this, then cancel your direct debit. Tell them you're doing this and they might just let you out of the contract, as it may be easier than chasing you up for money you're not going to pay.

You probably don't have any right to get out without paying some kind of fee, but you can always try. It could preclude you from ever availing of future O2 services as they may black flag you as a bad customer.
