if you can do a sonnet and a haiku ill give you $5 for each. Also another $5 if you google cardshark broke and read the thread, then write a poem based on that.

If i like all 3 ill give you a bonus of $5 so $20 total

this poem was PMed to me by Willie .
i thought it was too classy not to post it here.
    i think it's brilliant .

    Gholy and the drunk.

Two foreign gits were playing da cards,
Not sure which , was the bigger tard,
The guy who did cheat, with his drunken deceit,
Or the goon who went ape**** on boards (sorry I mean bards)

The boards goon wins the tard prize,
As he should really have opened his eyes,
Instead he opened the gate, the drunk declared straight,
HE HAS NOTHING the assembled mob cried.

The goon, then realised his mistake,
And screamed 'you’re a cheat for fks sake',
So he unmucked his hand, out came the brass band,
Both the guys should be on Ricky Lake (or springer wtf)

    Solksjaer!

    I guess we've reached a new low,
when a player is so broke that he go,
through the garbage like a trick ho,
All for a 10 that hes about to blow,
but maybe there is a happy ending,
because hopefully some will be sending,
a nice donation for cheering and begging,
for poems, rhymes, and Cardshark pegging.

    and for my sonnet...

Now theres this wild game called poker,
and some might think you need skill,
but u can still win being a joker,
u just might end up with a bill,
Ive played the game a couple times,
and lost a bunch of my money,
But hopefully with these poker rhymes,
Someone will think I am funny,
And maybe they'll send me some cash,
but maybe they'll think that im wack,
and tell me to stick these words up my ass,
and to never post anything back.

Now thats the end of the lesson,
So for all your suckouts stop stressin.

hey wootwoot. i liked your haiku and your sonnet. the one about cardshark started well but went a little bit off track. So far you've earned $10.

I'd like to see you make an improved effort with the poem about Cardshark. I'm thinking something epic like Milton's Paradise Lost, though you can shorten it a little. Some things you can use for inspiration are his red hair, his name Reggie and his English descendancy. It would be good if you read through the whole thread to pick up on some of the finer details. If it's really impressive, you might even get an extra bonus, but it would have to be something extraordinary. Having seen some of your work, I feel you can definitely do it, so I'm looking forward to reading your next effort.

Also, what's your name on Stars to transfer the $10 to?

I think you're doing very well. I'd also like to see an epic poem about Reginald. You could work in his propensity for welshing on prop bets and being a massive fish at Chinese poker, and of course him being a constantly broke degenerate. You could also get thousands of people to watch this video

I'll contribute $10 for a high quality epic.

The Crazed Carrot AKA Reggie (CardShark)

There was a degenerate named Crazed Carrot,
Who talked out his ass like a parrot,
Now they called him Crazed cause he welshes,
And he's dangerous for you like old shellfish,
He thought he was worthy to play,
In the World Series of Poker that day,
But he donked out early and busted,
And since he could never be trusted,
No one around would give him a loan,
So Verizon had to shut off his phone,
Now Reggie had thought of himself as a shark,
But in reality he was really stuck in the dark,
For this fish it was time to be fried,
Now hes wishing that he never lied,
So now hes broke and alone,
And his parents wont let him come home,
So you see the moral of this story is sweet,
If you go back on you word you'll get beat.

    Thanks for reading
Hope u guys like it, WootWootGo on FullTilt

hey woot, its a good start but its well short of epic. you're going to have to go the extra yards to secure the full $20 and a possible bonus. Roundtower will also contribute $10 so you have the chance of a nice score here, but I really need to see you put the effort in. Although the above is a better effort than earlier, it's still well short of bonus standards.

I'd like to see you use some proper poetic stylings in the next submissions. I can see you're more than capable of busting a rhyme, but I'd like to see some assonance and alliteration, denotation and connotation, some allegories and also a change of the poetic meter in use.

I think if you can incorporate some of these elements with your sweet rhyming skills you could be in for a big pay day. I'll check back in a few hours and hopefully you'll have created a tour-de-force of modern poetry for us all to enjoy.

hey Ian, Do you think you could send me a token of good faith since I have already wrote the haiku, sonnet, and 2 poems about Reggie. I will def write a masterpiece if you can.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,083 ✭✭✭RoundTower

you're certainly on the right road, I've sent $5 to be getting on with and there's another fiver with your name on it if you can make something that we could actually sing, or possibly chant.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 513 ✭✭✭HalfBaked

As RoundTower said you on the right road. I have also sent you $5 dollars on FT for your work so far. If you can create an epic Cardshark chant I will also send you more $$$ as I'm sure a few others will. Keep up the good work!
