As Miss Utah, she's going for Miss America. She's supported in this by the Army, with her own web page on the Army's domain.

Her campaign slogan is "Lock and load." Go, girl!

"I show up to my Miss Utah events in uniform. In parades, I'm in uniform instead of an evening gown to show that this is who I am."

I think for Miss America, she could pick Mess Dress for the eveningwear portion. Damned if I know what the she could do for the swimwear section though.

I agree....but I would not mind a bit of "Lock and load" with Miss Utah.

When referring to a modern firearm, yes. But when the phrase originated, one would lock the hammer of a flintlock to the rear, then load the pan.

Well, she got through to the semis by virtue of the "Peoples' Choice" (More audience members voted for her than anyone else. Not surprising really, every person in the military probably did!)

Sadly, the judges didn't like her, and out she went. In style.
