Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should I get 1GB or 2GB RAM?

Just about to order a Dell but being no expert, I'm dithering over how much RAM to get. Trying to keep costs to a minimum as I just use a pc for email, internet, photos iPod stuff and a bit of Office stuff. No gaming or anything like that.

I'm thinking of going for a Pentium Dual Core 1.6 GHz, (you'd nearly think I knew what I was on about!) and Vista Home Premium, 250GB hard drive. And integrated graphics card if that makes any difference.

So how much RAM should I get? Would 1MB be suficient or would I be better off going for 2 MB.

    Any tips welcome. Thanks!

If possible you would be better off going with whatever amount of RAM comes as standard with the unit and then ordering separately from a site like www.crucial.com as Dell and most other manufacturers tend to rip the customer off when it comes to things like RAM and so on. Have a look on crucial's site for a price for RAM for the laptop first and check yourself whether it would be worthwhile as ideally you would be looking for the 2GB in the machine.

Indeed, RAM is absolutely dirt cheap now but Dell won't be passing that saving on to you. 2GB of DDR2 RAM can be had for less than €50 at the moment from places like memoryc or crucial.
