Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dell Laptop Wireless Problem

Ok so I have a Dell 640m laptop which works great most of the time, but sometimes it seems to just "lose" our wwireless connection. Well perhaps lose is the wrong word, the computer will be on and then suddenly out of nowhere I won't be able to connect to any webpages. But if I have torrents running they keep downloading and if I am using a chat client like mirc I can keep chatting and even sending and recieving files. So its really just the browsing of the internet that stops. And usually I have to restart the laptop and then it is fine, but sometimes I have to restart it a few times.

I rang my ISP (UTV) and they assured me that it is not on their end and that seems to make sense because the torrents etc keep running.

So does anybody know what might be causing this and if there is any solution? I am using wireless broadband with a BT Voyager 2110 wireless router. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi
Sounds like it not a wireless problem since your other programs appear to be runnning fine.
You might want to install Windows Defender and scan for any dodgy spyware/ adware..................
Have you tried installing a different browser (FireFox/Opera ) and see if you get the same problem?
What error message do you get from the browser?

    cheers

Thanks for the reply. I have tried to use both IE and Firefox and when it goes you just get the message that they are unable to connect to the server and to check your internet connection.

I will try checking for spyware tonight but I think this has been happenning right from when I got the laptop so it may not be that. The only thing I can think of is that I forwarded the ports for both mirc and utorrent and they stay working so do I need to do something similar for the web browsers?

It may simply be that you are putting too much 'strain' on the wireless connection. I have read several posts in various places about wireless problems mainly dropouts and torrents are always involved. Have you tried the ethernet connection to see if there are problems when downloading the torrents?

Also have you updated your wireless driver for thet laptop?
