Irish Shooting Records

Does anyone know where (if) I can see a list of the Irish records set by shooters? Does anyone know what those records are? It's simple to find out who holds the 100m running record etc. but nigh on impossible to do the same for shooting records. Personally I think it's the sort of thing that should be gathered into one place and not necessarily limited to one type of shooting (e.g. ISSF, IPSA etc.).

I don't know about any specific records but I heard that Ireland was a pretty big noise internationally in the late 19th. and early 20th. century.
You could begin searching in Creedmoor and Palma match results and try Bisley for Commonwealth team events etc. Olympic results might also be worth a look.
I do not know if this info. is cached on the web so you may have to contact the organisations or their historians yourself.

As far as recent records being set, I haven't heard of any.

I do know that the record score for 25 yard prone target rifle is 595/600 set on 15th September 1997 by Ray Reilly of DURC.

This was on the 1989 target with outward gauging (this is still the curremt target so the record can still be broken). I don't know what the record was for the old target, but I believe it may have been in the region of 596.

    Hi there

I have records going back to the 1860s for fullbore target rifle and match rifle for all Ireland teams. Most of these are available on CD in PDF format but hopefully will be available online next year.

I also have the Palma Match records in book format - available from the author . Visit http://www.dcra.ca/welcome.htm
for details of how to get one although they are very pricy.

The Commonwealth Games records are all online at the CGF site

    http://www.commonwealthgames.com/

Ireland is still a pretty big noise internationally in Target Rifle and Match Rifle winning the National Match (TR) in 2002 and the Elcho (MR) in 2005.

    Hope that helps
