is it ok to bring it? can i bring it across water:?

There are 11 tickets left in the current batch as of this writing, with the next lot being released at the end of January so if you want to book get your skates on.

As Hunter said, if you're using a support weapon, you'll need to declare your class on the second page of the booking form - in this case 'support'.

You've a month to pay for the tickets, so it's time to figure logistics. The group palette thing seems like a sensible enough option for AEGs and perhaps things like tents, etc.

I'm looking at flights at the moment if someone wants to go investigate the palette option?

not sure how the semi fire will work, you can use up to 426fps on full auto, or 460 on semi, however a lot of aegs can use both by selector switch, but say in the case of my aug, which uses the 2 pull trigger, so half pull=1 shot full pull= full auto, so easy to accidently send off a few rounds in a panic.

I think that i'll upgrade my p90 to be 426 as it has a huge rof(even more since the high speed motor went in last week) and mabey put back in the 460 spring into my aug for semi, but any1 know if you can lock an aug to semi?

Two things to note. From my experiences at Ground-Zero (being the next comparable large event I've attended), bolt-action or semi-auto is just that. If you cannot control the fire-mode 100%, you don't use it. Simple as that. I imagine Berget 6 will be similar in attitude otherwise it will be impossible to control who is firing at rates they're not supposed to for safety reasons.

As for upgrading the P90 ... someone else on this forum (I think) pointed out that it's not just a simple case of upgrading your AEG to fire. The upgrade will put the AEG under increased duress and the likelihood of failures or other complications is greatly increased.

Incidentally, you might want to redo your math ..... by a considerable margin.

Right I'm confused?? (for those that know me - it's not hard:D)

Taking a VFC FN SCAR (when I get it!!) but can't understand what they are talking about. Assault rifles? Does it mean I can use it but only on semi auto (single shot) or can you use full auto but controlled bursts??

If you use an assault rifle or a SMG, magazines are limited to 90 rds, so no need to have a huge rate of fire if it is to empty your magazine in 1 second. Plus you're limited to 1200 rounds to carry with you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Hmmm I wonder would they allow 100 round mags? Otherwise its off to buy another batch for me :(

    aaaaaahhhh. now i get it.

    eh! 9 90 round mags should fine:p

Ahh crap when I booked last night I didn't really read the bloody second page properly! Do you think it really matters if you picked infantry or sniper or anything? because I was gonna bring just a sniper rifle and a pistol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭Hunter1100

E mail them they can probably change it for you
You will have to upgrade your sniper to have any chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

    I've got a 2.5 joule spring here handy :D

    Bought it accidentaly :(

Drop them a mail Gandalf, 100 rounds is awfully close to 90 so they may just let it go. What's an extra 10 bbs in most circumstances to be honest?

As for changing details, this shouldn't be a problem. I accidentally booked Gandalf two tickets and they were prompt to get rid of one of them so that the ticket could be freed up for someone else.

I imagine any other changes should be fairly easy to do at this early stage as well.

woo woo totaly confirmed ,lemmings there a drink waiting for you at the bar after the agm next week,
cheeky what your basicly meant ,your going to buy an aeg out there amd downgrade it coming home you may want to edit that last post

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,012 ✭✭✭✭Cuddlesworth

I'm going to point this out, to make this very clear. You can't just throw in a stronger spring and walk away. Things can go very wrong. That includes snipers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

im doing the basics tight bore ,new motor, shims and a battery ,and bringing some .30bbs for a little extra range

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Skatedude

All internals in both my aug and p90 have been upgraded, and i think i still have the 450 spring that came with it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,012 ✭✭✭✭Cuddlesworth

I'm just going to buy a pre upgraded systemia gearbox + tourqe motor for around 270 and installing it there. After I might remove the spring, or just sell it. But we are going for 3 days. So I need spare batterys, low cap mags :( and a spare gun. So many hidden costs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

Yeah found that out after my first post :(:(

Took a look around and I think I'll just grab this a few weeks before we leave and sort it out with a better spring when we get there

Add a couple of days to that '3' ;)

Hmm, Me thinks I may have to book the Monday off work as well. Now to decide, take it off holidays or take it off overtime. Plus, there is no point in going to Sweden and not trying to pick up a bird while you are there.

Well I'm figuring perhaps flying out Monday or Tuesday and perhaps getting a night's kip in a hotel/hostel/B&B of some description before turning up on wednesday morning. And then flying back either Sunday or Monday (i.e. Sunday in hotel/hotel/B&B + clean-up).

Look at it this way .. how often do you get to visit Sweden? ;)

Lads. One very simple piece of advice.

    Stop. Looking. At. Ryan Air.

For reasons I've gone into in depth in the Ground-Zero thread back in June/July/August.

lemmings looks like BEAST is going to have to slum it on the pallet with the rest of the Aegs ,some airlines are point blanking saying no to the guns ,might be worth asking in the shooters forum and ask how they get there equipment to events over sea's

They are around 200 euros cheaper then everybody else. I know they hate Aegs, but nothing like that is coming on the plane with me.

Fine. The rest of you can fly whatever airline you're flying with.

200 euro cheaper would be a considerable trick when SAS are coming in at around 200 ...

If shipping and insurance etc, comes in higher then the cheapest tickets, plus the extra travel you get with ryaniar, I don't see the problem with flying SAS.

But lets get this straight, you would prefer 10+ lads turning up at the airport with tatical gear and replica firearms. That could go 1 of 2 ways.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

group booking for say 20ppl might get a discount ,lemmings i was only saying that most airlines wont take them ,i was talking with nonex yesterday and he reckons mark beast as cargo and its should be ok, i know how much its worth lemmings ,how bout sorting a meet up first then organise who were flying with

In fairness. Lemming has experience with this.

You can insure the package, plus it makes the shipping company take better care of it.

I would prefer to travel with my gear and SAS allows this based on there website. If it costs more them thats fine with me

    Ryan Air don't do discounts.
lemmings i was only saying that most airlines wont take them

Actually, most airlines do. Ryan Air seem to be the exception. Much like Irish Ferries.

That said, you will have to cough up extra since your flight case (and it needs to meet certain criteria), is additional baggage. You'll need to declare after you book your flight by ringing the airline up.

As for the ryan air tickets being cheaper .... I booked flights to Scotland today. With Ryan Air. My ticket (return) was €30. The full price was over €100 because of various Ryan Air policies. Ryan Air prices have a tendency to _jump_ once you get past the "select your ultra-cheap-flight-wow-we-are-great" page.

Anyway, we've a month to sort everything out, so it's early days yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

right, now we need to organise a get together ,how bout after the agm next sunday if everybody is going ,im just going for the afters .

Seems I was actualy mistaken with the cost of the flight its 70 euro then 18 euro handling fee for you baggage then if you want to pay it 12 euro for insurance

So in total it will add up to about 100 euro for the flight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭jinko

    sounds like a good idea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

Just to give you an idea ...

    Using SAS, with the following flights (direct);

    Dublin - Stockholm
    Tues 24th June 2008: 12.00 - 15.35 (adjusted for GMT +1, flight 2h 35)

    Stockholm - Dublin
    Tues 01 July 2008: 09.25 - 11.10 (flight time, 2h 45)

Initial fee converted is €133. There appears to be little in the way of 'extra' fees as Ryan Air are fond of doing. There are additional charges if bringing any extra luggage, but that's par for the course and the fees aren't crazy. I had seen the page before but can't seem to locate it now. I'll turn it up.

I chose those two times/dates since they are direct flights, which means no bullsh*t changing flights and/or getting hassle over luggage. I personally don't mind staying overnight in Stockholm and I think it'd be good fun.

Beyond that it's a case of travelling from Stockholm onwards. So either an internal flight, or train/bus/whatever

just checked hotel prices in stockholm ,cheapet hotel is us86 per night so 60/70e up to around 100+euro, money conversion 1e =9skk or kroner cant remember if thats good or bad
