Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Xbox 4 red rings, 11 months old, can I bring it back to shop?

I turned on my 360 this evening and all four parts of the power ring are red, rather than green. I bought it 11 months ago, and I've literally played it for about 40 hours in that time frame. Will the shop I bought it in give me a new replacement if I return it to them, because its not a year old yet.
I threw out the box but I still have the receipt. I know if I call MS they'll send me out a refurbished one and I have heard horror stories about them.

Is there any way of rescuing my game saves?

    Thanks

This happend to a friend of mine about a year after he got his new. He contacted microsoft and they picked it up, repaired it, and sent it back. With a *New* 2 year garauntee on it aswell. And the one he got back from ms has been behaving itself far better than his old one, no overheating etc. Give ms a buzz, and they'll collect it and deliver it back to u, within a couple of weeks.

Thanks for replying. TBH I'd rather avoid the refurbished unit if at all possible. Am I entitled to a new 360 as its not even a year old?

well ill ask my mate if he got his xbox fixed or if he got a new one. Give MS a buzz, generally their customer support is alright.

    Hi,

Your console isn't broken if its four red. It normally means a loose or Faulty AV cable. See here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906652

Three red lights is known as the ring of death, not four

Four red lights usually is just a loose video connection. Check your cables.

Yep check the cables, pull out the AV cable and disconnect the hard drive and reconnect all of them and voila.

I was in very same situation. 11 months old, and started having problems. Retuned to to store I bought it in, and they gave me a new one. So there shouldn't be a problem!

Unfortunately the one I received had the incorrect cables (it was packaged with european power cables!) so I went back the following morning. I told them the story and they said they would replace that one too.

On a side note, as they were preparing my new one, I asked if I could take an Elite instead and i'd pay the difference. They said sure...and I even got Blue Dragon free :D

I had a few issues firstly the console hung then rebooted to the three red lights then I tried the above and it worked for a few hours tried it again since, and it only froze during online connection
. PLayed a game last night and it hung again twice off line.
If I call MS am I as well to say it has the three red light and leave it at that or am I as well of telling the truth and risking "its the games fault" even tough it happened on two games.
Or option three and take it into Gamestop and trading up to an elite (how much testing if any do they do)

Thanks guys. I unplugged the av cable a few times and it eventually started working again, and I finally got around to finishing bioshock.
