Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eircom Wireless & Windows ME

    Hi,
I was trying to help my friend connect their Windows ME PC to their Wireless Eircom broadband. They had got a USB wireless connector (I cannot think what to call it), but basically it picks up the signal from the Eircom router, we entered the WEP key etc, and it was fine, saying that signal strength was strong.
There was just one more step in the instructions (for windows XP), to choose your wireless connection in Network Settings, but windows ME was only letting you choose the modem, and nothing else.
I tired going into Internet options and clicking "Don't dial a connection", but it doesn't pick up the eircom broadband.

Do I have to do something in LAN settings? Or does anyone know what I should be doing next? I'm a bit lost when it comes to broadband, I have never messed around with it before, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only thing you would have to do in LAN settings is to make sure the IP address etc is set to DHCP, This is the default option when you install a network adapter. It should not have to be changed.
Try going to start, run and typing: winipcfg
press enter then select the wireless adapter. It will tell you the ip address its currently using.

    Ok thanks,
I'll try that later on. I think there might have been some of the old dial up details left in there. But I wasn't sure what to change it to.
Do I put in the IP address of the wireless adaptor?

No make sure IP address is set to be dhcp and so is DNS (very important). It should be automatic.
Otherwise you can just give it an IP address on the same range and set the default gateway to be the IP of the router, same with the DNS.
by the way, default IP address of router is 192.168.1.254 so you could give yourself 192.168.1.10
