    Hey fellow boardies...

Am looking for a replacement foundation. Im only 22 so have young skin still (( not for much longer :( )) and i have combination skin with an oily t-zone. I also have the joy/ misfortune of being typically Irish - auburn curly hair, bright blue eyes and freckles !

Used to Use Elizabeth Arden but found it kinda old on my skin and kinda heavy. Changed to MAC and was happy with it for years but now find it very hard to blend in and find a nice shade. I have tried their 2 versions, the nc's and nw's and the select studio finish too ((i think thats what its called, its a thicker formula))

im looking for a nice new foundation, that will give great coverage, hide some freckles if at all possible too!! I dont mind paying good money for the foundation as i use it every day in work so il get wear out of it. I have a lovely powder by Lancome that i use and its fab so im gonna stick with that one - its just foundation i need! Whats Estee Lauder like? Is it for older skin too - anti aging things etc??

Thanks guys - help will be greatly appreciated!! :)

Just bought a new nars foundation and bronzer which i really like. I've combination skin too, can be a bit dry at times and a bit oily at other times.
    Stila do nice foundations too.
Go in to BT's or Arnotts or somewhere and try out a few.
Don't know about Estee Lauder, I've always associated it with older people but whatever works!

I've started using mineral foundation from www.everydayminerals.com as recommended by another poster on this forum a couple of months back. I used to hate foundation because I always found that it felt heavy on my face and after a few hours ended up looking patchy. It's a powder but it doesn't give that dull/dry finish that powder usually does, it looks completely natural and you can build it up depending on the coverage that you want. I use a shade slightly lighter than my natural skin tone for a more flawless finish and then use wome bronzer for a bit of colour.

I swear by Armani. It covers up my freckles and isn't too heavy. If you pay €25 you can have your make up done and then you get €25 off products. That's what i did to find the right shade, about two years ago and I've used it ever since. It's about €35 a bottle. I use the Armani powder too over it to set it and take the shine off my nose. I'd highly reccomend it!

Clinique have a good range of foundations for different skin types. And they have great offers at this time of year.

Yeah, I second that Armani suggestion.

My skin can go from dry to oily in a matter of days sometimes so I went in and asked, the girl was absolutely lovely, I hate my face been touched and don't like te idea of other people doing my make up.... have had skin problems since i was young and my skin can be very sensetive to touch.

I use Armani Luminous Silk, it's really nice and seems to be lasting ages!! Goes on great with a brush, i get great coverage from it

oh Armani sounds like a favourite? Do you knwo if you can get it in Bt's?? Im in Limerick and our bt's is fairly limited - havent seen it in there but again not been there in a while!

everydayminerals sound lush - but going from the colours on the website im all confused as to what'd suit me best.. wil need to order some samples to know for sure

I was told you could only get it in Bt's or in dublin airport but i'm not positive on that!

I use Infalliable by L'Oreal and I really like it. Plus it's reasonable.

I use Lancome compact no.03 which I find great for my skin. I have normal to dry skin and I find the lancome is great it goes on really smooth and doesn't feel heavy or look like muck on my face.
I like the sound of Armani though. Actually I like the sound of getting your make up done and then getting a discount. Where do they do that?

dollydrops they do it in BT'S anyway defo - maybe Arnotts and Debenhams but am not sure?
You go to the counter of your choice they do the makeover and you buy products worth a set amount - usually €25 - €30! so you basically get your makeup done for free :)

..Slightly off topic but I have the same prob with foundations, I used Clinique for a while a few years bcak, then switched to MAC (the nws and studio fix) for the guts of a year and loved it, but find foundations get harder to blend, (not necessarily MAC)...now Im using Loreals True Match range!...is it skin that changes, or why does foundation blending change?...
or am i just putting it on wrong?

I used to use mac but when I needed a new bottle they rarely had it in stock. Went to Clinique then, find their stuff is nice and light!

Slightly off topic: Did anyone look at that free dvd they were giving out in boots? It has hair and make up tips on it - I found it great particularly when it came to the basics. The lady said foundation isnt used to cover up anything but to create an even skin tone, use concealer to cover up things! I bought a No.7 concealer and I find it fantastic! She also advised not to cover up freckles but thats a matter of taste I suppose!

I had been using Clinique for years but found it was no longer doing the thing for me. I've recently changed to Chanel Lumiere and find it wonderful. Its very light and natural to wear, not very expensive and feels great on my skin.

Foundation like many other types of make up has a use by date. If you keep it for too long it'll start to go a bit off and won't blend or look as nice on your skin as a fresh bottle did. It's usually 6 months or 1 year from when you open it, should say it on the bottle. Like 6M or 12M or 24M, same applies for moisturiser.
