    26.11.2007 - The European Commission has given clearance for Irish State aid to fund the urgently required National Broadband Scheme that aims fit out the remaining 15pc of Ireland currently neglected for broadband services.

    Four candidates have already pre-qualified for the next phase of the procurement process, including BT Communications Ireland Consortium, Eircom, Hutchison 3G Ireland and an IFA/Motorola consortium.

    Eircom are gods compared to Hutchison/3 Ireland.

    Really?? Because it seems if something like this had happened over 5 years ago when it was supposed to happen that it would have been a demonstration of how important the government regard BB. As it is, it could be too little, too late for our "knowledge economy".
