Contention Ratio - shared between providers?

Am having probs with Eircom (Crosshaven) - slow to dead - was only weekends, now happening Monday morning etc. Indian tech support polite but useless. Wondering about changing to BT to get better contention ratio as very few round here are with BT. However - is the contention ration (24:1 or 48:1 etc) just between…

Wondering about changing to BT to get better contention ratio as very few round here are with BT.

However - is the contention ration (24:1 or 48:1 etc) just between customers of each service provider, in which case I should see an improvement, or is BT just reselling Eircoms service on exactly the same exchange hardware and sharing out the same bandwith as I already have with Eircom?

Anybody know?

Unless you get LLU product it is basically all eircom.
