    Hi

While reversing today someone said that 1 of the reverse lights was working, so I said it only had 1 and that most cars if not all only have 1 reverse lights, they said that seen several times cars with 2 reverse white lights,

Does anyone know if there's cars with 2 reverse lights (I don't recall seen any)? If there's what percentage of cars have 2?

    Thanks

my car has 2, but 3 door versions of it only have 1.

I'd say about 30% of cars have 2.

I'd say more of the bigger cars have two, like Merc's & Bmw's, the reason they have only one is that the other side (that would have been used for another reversing light) would be used as a fog lamp, instead of having to use four places for lights they can use two.

    BTW i have two.

My Passat has 2. I think a single reverse light looks odd, but then I like symmetry. :)

My big opel corsa even has two :P

My C-Max has two. It kind of depends on the size of the light clusters rather than the size of the car itself (not necessarily linked).

My fiesta has 1 and my beamer has two, i guess you could say i have three reverse lights. ;)

Some cars have two and others have one. It seems common practice with some manufacturers to put the fog light on the right and the reverse light in the symmetrically opposite location on the left.

I have 2 in my Lancer, and tbh i hate seeing only one! I think it's cheap... Personal opinion!

I used to hate the reverse light on my 99 focus, people used to not see it if near you as it was so low

Alfa's all have one. You can fit an uprated lamp on the rear if you wish. They are commonly used for night-navigation rallys, when you'd need to be able to reverse out of a driveway/lane/hedge as quick as you entered it...

    Fiat puntos have 1.

I prefer two - like symetry also. (but can't spell it)
Saw a car today with an L plate each side of the registration plate - think that was someone else that likes symmetry.

my civic has 2, and there high up aswell, one thing i dont like about the older focus being too low., the current 5 series bmws have nice reverse lights, there really small and bright and dont take from the look of the light cluster.,

Nope! 2 on the 156; and 2 rear fog lights - all disguised in a red cluster.

I'd a Mini with none, now that was fun trying to reverse in traffic. Never counted new cars. Will have to check, defo works cause it lights the place up well.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Cars used to have two until some cost cutter somewhere decided one would do :)

Since then most small / cheap cars have one and most big / expensive cars have two (generalising here obviously)

Next question for the real anorak: which car was the first on the European market with only one?

On the new Passat, it's like they went out of their way to make one side look different to the other:
