Reading the latest MAG issue, barriers are going to be removed from the West-link next year under an new electronic tolling system and bikes will be exempt. This will finally put an end to stopping, getting off the bike, removing gloves, fumbling for change and holding up traffic. Its about time these guys got the message.

Any chance that it'll be repeated on all the tolls (e.g. the M1 Drogheda toll)?

tbh, Ill believe it when I see it

sorta like, bikes will soon be allowed in buslanes, or the razor-wire-crash-barriers may soon be a thing of the past

doubt it, I once saw them charge a funeral hearse and the mourning cars, even though the funeral had a garda escort.

NTR are Hungry bastards, I hate them.

Didn't get that from the article. MAG are seeking exemption for bikes but nothing agreed as yet.

Below a transcript from that article in the latest Roadrunner.
"Recently the NRA published on their website the draft tolling scheme for the M50 West-link bridge, for when it is to go barrier free next year. The Good news as far as we are concerned is that under the preposed scheme, motorcycles willl be exempt from tolls! However other road users will see an increase in their tolls (which will feed into increased prices in the shops all over Ireland for all sorts of goods, as so many trucks are forced to use the M50".

    Here's the NRA document:

    http://www.nra.ie/PublicPrivatePartnership/TollingDocumentation/file,10541,en.pdf
    SCHEDULE B
Classes of Vehicles and Road Users Exempt from Tolls
    (1) Motor Cycles
    (2) Ambulances and fire brigade vehicles.
    ....

did you like the MAG article, I wrote it :)

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
