Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    A relative in France was recently charged there with an assault from 15 years ago. He tells me that in France you have to prove your innocence rather than an accuser proving your guilt. This turned out to be rather hard to do and he got a suspended sentence with a massive €15,000 atonement to the accuser - which he says was the plan of this person all along.

    I'm actually not sure if I believe this person is innocent because I don't know them that well despite them being a close relative but could be in a position to financially help them if I had to.

    My question is, is this true of French law and what if he can't pay the cost. Are we talking actual prison time here?

    It's a bloody nightmare, regardless.
