I have a 96 laguna and the heater/cooler has just stopped working.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?
Getting sick of my window steaming up and having to clear it with my sleeve!!
    Many thanks

    open the dashboard,

    take the heater core out,

take the old core to radiator specialist and ask them to fix it or make you a new one (usually cheaper that dealers, it depends), mine was 120e made from scratch, cheaper than dealers

install the heater core and put the dashboard in place,

I do not know Laguna so well but usually it is a pain to install these, for 96 car no point to take it to garage, it is better to do it yourself or scrap the car,

I did the job above for 99 Matiz, never -ever again:) Most annoying job y could ever do for a car, but who knows, maybe Laguna is easier to fix?

I would not bother to use these coolant fixing solutions like BAR´s etc, they might work but usually no luck.

the heater/cooler has just stopped working.

What, exactly, is not working? Is the blower fan working? Do you have air conditioning?

Could it be that you have simply let the coolant level run low? We'll need more details of the symptoms to come up with a useful diagnosis.

the car does not have air conditioning.
it has the standard blower fan which is not working.there is no air either hot or cold coming out when i turn the dial to 1,2,3 or 4!

First - have you checked the fuse for the fan? It sounds to me like a fan problem. Maybe the fuse is gone or the series resistance is blown (usually the fan will work at full speed only - but not always) or it's possible that the fan motor itself has given up the ghost.

if you only have a blower problem then you could consider be lucky, since it is much easier (in general) to fix than heater core,

First I would check the fuses, then if no luck change the blower, try to find a Laguna service manual somewhere (shop, internet) to get more info.
