Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No takers for this? Was i the only one?

It's probably the best bargain i've seen in ages. The RRP for this set is £199 (that's sterling). 9 seasons and the film for under €80!

Thought this thread would have a bundle of replies when i logged back on.

thinkin about gettin it alright. is this liable for a customs hit or is it ok cos its comin from amazon.co.uk??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Amazon.co.uk - it'll be fine!

Works out at under €8.70 per season (excluding the film).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,592 ✭✭✭davehey79

great price alright im just in between will i wont i type situatio. the oul cc has got a good hittin this month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Yeah, but i thought of the RRP and then i thought of that's practically the price of a new XBox 360 game.

That against over 150 hours (just the 9 seasons alone) of probably the best TV series of the 90's. Had to buy it!

This was priced at £70 on Amazon.co.uk recently and Amazon has a 30-day refund the difference policy where if the same product you bought is available cheaper up to 30 days after you purchased it, you get the difference refunded.

People who bought at £70 seem to be taking FULL advantage of this.

From someone from over at the HotUKDeals forum:
    pwillow wrote:
Just contacted them again by phone and got nowhere with the refund,i was told that all those who ordered it yesterday at £51.97 will be getting emails to say it was a pricing error.

Hope somebody gets somewhere with this, good luck.
I'd say this is quite likely to be honest! :(

But the worst thing about it is highlighted by another member of the forum:
    pfpf wrote:
this is an interesting thread. 1st of all i have not bought this set now or in the past but my observations are:

    1. people on here got a bargain and voted it so at £70 ish?

    2. price went down to a bargain £52 ish?

    3. someone mentioned the Amazon "price drop" policy? until which, most people knew nothing about it.

    4. people rightly claimed the difference?

    5. price has now jumped to £90 ish? which i suspect is a direct response by Amazon to all the claims?

    6. this has meant alot of people not getting £18.00 back AND probably peoples orders @ £52.00 getting cancelled?

    7. some people are now going off on the "trading standards/see them in court/not giving up without a fight" route that we all know and love on HUKD? i thought the "price drop" policy was a feature, not a Law? i dont know that many places that would refund the difference after 1 day, let alone 30 days.

HUKD is a great resource and we all love it. we love a bargain and to save a few quid, but greed is a terrible thing. go back to point 1 above, you all thought £70 was a bargain, leave it at that surely?

Basically, Amazon will contact you first to say it was pricing error. And may or may not ask you if you wish to purchase it at the "correct price" of £70.

They won't just charge you the £70 outright.. don't worry!

Okay cool , So if i don't reply to their emails they will automatically refund me then ? Do you think there is a chance that we will get the box set for the bargin price ?

    Yeah.. more or less.

I don't think Amazon will offer it for you at the new price (some other online stores do this) - they'll simply inform you of the pricing error and refund you.
    Sarge wrote: »

I'd really doubt it to be honest. I reckon too many who got it at the £70 price a few weeks back have demanded for the difference refunded, and Amazon probably know it'll be cheaper to issue the £18 difference to those people than honour all the orders for this. Could be completely wrong with that assumption though.

I really hope they do.. but i'd not getting my hopes up!

okay thanks for putting my mind at ease , was getting worried that i was going to get charged the 70pound , Great find so here is hoping that we get the bargain time will tell.

Can't find it in my order status either. As Jack Bauer would say "Damn it!" Debating whether or not to buy this at ~€125.

Received my Box Set the other day.

I paid £69.97 and am well pleased. :)

Went for this in the Amazon.co.uk January sale... they have it priced at £71.97 but i have a spare £10 Amazon.co.uk voucher lying around from purchasing through RPoints so i put it to good use.
    Subtotal of Items: £61.25
    Postage & Packing: £1.88
    Total before VAT: £63.13
    VAT: £13.25
    Total: £76.38
    Promotional Gift Certificates: -£0.00
    Total: £76.38
    Gift Certificates: - £10.00
    Total for this order: £66.38

So got it for £66.38 with shipping which works out at about €93 - can't complain really as it was only about €15 more than i would have gotten with the misprice (well... with the voucher too).

    ;)

Still a good price at £71.97 for those wishing to buy it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Down a couple of quid to £67.97

Girlfriend and myself started watching my boxset (due to the writer's strike and all that) and we finished season 1 last night. Starting season 2 tonight.

Excellent boxset.. though the disc's are quite shoddily packaged in to save space.

    wow!!
Was amazed when I saw the season boxsets €30 in HMV the other day... was gonna get some of my favourites season (2-5), but may as well get the whole freakin thing now! :D
    thanks for the tip Basquille!

No hassle whiskeyman. You should get it for about €100 (with shipping & handling).

Plenty to watch in it at 201 episodes and the 'Fight The Future' movie.

    Enjoy!

Not sure - worth a try in the 'Promotional Code' box on checkout.

I used a £10 voucher i obtained through RPoints (that works on purchasing products through them as an affiliate).

wow thats a great deal. been working my way through a mates complete collection and am on season 4 at the moment - brilliant. wish i could justify buying this!!

Heh.. have e-mailed Amazon to get £4 back! :D

Due to their price difference policy.. if a product you order drops in price within 30 days of your ordering it, they'll refund the difference. I ordered mine at £71.97 (before £10 discount though).

    ;)

    EDIT: That was quick...
    Dear Customer

    Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

The discounts we offer for items on our website do vary from time to
time. I've checked your order #203-5377339-1521966 and found that we
now offer a greater discount on "The X Files - The Complete
Collector's Edition" than at the time you placed your order.

We are only able to adjust the price of an order in instances where
less than thirty days have passed between the date on which an order
was dispatched and the time that an item is reduced in price on our
    site.

I have therefore requested a refund of 6.14 GBP to your payment
card. This amount reflects the difference between the price you were
charged and the current discounted price. The refund should appear
as a credit on your next bank statement.

Completed refunds information can be viewed when you visit Your
Account once you've received a confirmation e-mail from us. Under
Where's My Stuff? click "Go" next to "Open and recently dispatched
orders" and sign in with your e-mail address and password. The
refund information will be visible at the bottom of the relevant
    order's summary page.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or concern
this price change may have caused.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.
£6.14 GBP? I'd assume he / she means euros.. as the price has only dropped by £4.
