Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.
    -Mr Tambourine Man, Dylan

    Or

    Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
    I opened up my eyes
    And found myself alone alone
    Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me
    -Just like heaven, The Cure

    great tune.

    "Miller's angels are hovering
inbetween the earth and the sun.
-In the shadow, of God's unwavering love,
    I am a "fortunate" son."

    "Can't you hear me?
    Because i'm screaming.
I did not go outside, yesterday.

Don't wake me, please, don't wake me
    -cos i was dreaming.
I might just stay inside again today."

Man, what a fall from grace counting crows have had, songwriting-wise!

ha ha ha, always wondered if people knew where i got my old name from! yea thats an excellent song.

Wouldnt write the Crows off too soon man, there last album had some gems on it. might be a bit poppy for some peoples tastes, but the lyrics were as strong as ever.

    If anything
    It should have been
    A better thing
    From underneath you
    Staring at the ceiling
    There’s another world
Of chocolate bars and baseball cards
    That hides inside of all
    This tension that i’m feeling
But it’s all inside of you
Yeah, it’s all inside of you
    Surprise surprise
I miss your hair, you miss my eyes
    And all this solitude
    Is my confidence eroding
    So we slide inside of
    Someone’s mouth and someone’s eyes
    Until there’s a sound
    Of something intimate exploding
But it's all inside of you
Yeah, it’s all inside of you 3x i wish that i was anesthetized
    And sterilized and then
We wouldn’t have this evidence congealing
    Surprise surprise,
Another pair of lips and eyes
    And that is the consequence
    Of actually feeling
It was all inside of you 4x

Agreed that there are some good songs on the last album, but there is also songs that I would consider muck in comparison to earlier stuff (American Girls, Hard Candy, Butterfly in Reverse being particular cringeworthy). The shrek song, however, is an all-time low. I think there a good example of a band that had a good thing going but have run out of ideas. Anything released post This Desert Life (a great album imo) just seems like uninspired, average american pop-rock type fare if you ask me!

Flyin on the back of a long wet dream
Lying awake at night thinking of how you make her scream
Dying, dying to climb on her back now baby
Realise your mind is designed to say what they want to hear.

    It’s almost like raping
    Lying about everything
    No interest in saving
    Some little girlies dignity
    When you had your way
    You up and leave
    It’s something that you crave
Get down on your knees, bitch.

    Walking through the midnight city
All of the girls and all of their titty's
Doing it straight going out tonight
Taking her home tie her hands blind her eyes
Shell be telling all her friends you’re a god in disguise.

Yeah you walk so tall cause you’re a Hornball.

Death and hell are never full
    D E A
And neither are the eyes of men
    D E D A
Cats can fly from nine stories high
    E D
And pigs can see the wind

Want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed. Ludacris, featuring in Usher's Yeah.

    Never a truer word spoken.

First verse of "Rainy Night In Soho" by The Pogues,

I've been loving you a long time
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways
We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell

Shane McGowan deserves the praise he gets from people comparing him to a poet.

journey!! always puts a small on my face..

just a smalltown girl, living in a lonely world
she took a midnight train going anywhere.
just a city boy born and raised in south detroit,
he took a midnight train going anywhere....

seen her in a smoky room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume
for a smile they could share the night it goes on and on and on and on

sugababes - change...loving this right now so relevant at the mo
If I could hold you close ,Like you were never gone
If I could hear your voice,You'd tell me to be strong

    But sometimes,I just can't I just don't understand
    Why you had to go
    Why you had to go
    I guess I'll never know

Ain't it funny how you think,You're gonna be OK
Till you remember things ain't never,Gonna be the same again
Ain't it crazy how you think,You've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever
    In your hands
    Change

If I could get to you
I'd be there in a minute
My world don't make no sense
    Not without you in it
