Dublin City to Lucan and back again

Hi,
I haven't a clue where to go for this,
I have a day course on Saturday 15th Dec up in Lucan and I need to get there

Now as I'm in Waterford and have no car I'm getting the train to Dublin Friday night and staying over night but I need to get to the place in Lucan before 9am on Saturday morning, I also need to get back to Dublin City to get the train to Waterford after lunch time.

How can I go about this?
Whats the best option?

Lucan has a reasonable bus service. 25, 25A, 66, 67, etc. Where abouts in Lucan, because one particular route might be best?

No panic. There's a 66 at 7.45 and the journey time is a lot less on a Saturday morning. The 25 at 8.15 would probably do, but the earlier bus will give you a large margin of error.

Edited to add: Yes, Main St, Lucan is indeed in Lucan Village. (Surprise, surprise )

No, do not get the 25A. It doesn't go throught the village.

Get either the 25 or 66. As said earlier, 30-40 mins will most likely be fine for a Saturday morning.

The bus stop is opposite the Garda station. One on Westmorland St also.

Ok, Esker Church, or St Patrick's, Esker, is at the terminus of the 25A.

I've marked it on this map on google maps: Esker church.

Visible from my back window, so keep asking if you're still not sure. I'd still say the 8.15 will do for ya.

Esker church looks a fair walk to main street, but I suppose if I get a early bus it'll give me a good margin for error

You don't have to go to Pearse st. You get off the train at Heuston,walk across the river to parkgate st and get your bus there. if you exit the station at the back,you will see the wall of the liffey with apartments on the other side,your bus stops there.If in doubt ask any porter in the station where parkgate st is. Don't for gods sake go all the way into pearse st,that will put another 50 mins on your journey.

this is true but I'm coming from waterford so I'm coming up on the train the night before and staying overnight, so as I'll be in the middle of town I'm going to get the bus from pearce street

You can also get the 66B and the 66A. The stops are opposite the Garda station on Pearse, outside Supermacs on Westmoreland, and on Wellington quay, near a pet shop.

You can get several of those buses from Parkgate Street, directly across the river from Heuston Station. That of course depends on where you are staying.
