    Hi folks.

I am currently using Digiweb (Metro), am am looking into a possible change to ICE Broadband.

    HOWEVER !!!!.....

After reading through some posts/threads in here, i am not so sure its a good idea.

Does anyone in Limerick have ICE BROADBAND and is it anygood.

Only reason i am looking to change is the unlimited download limit.

    Any help/advise would be great...

    Cheers and thanks for looking..;)

Dialup, ISDN and Ripwave has unlimited download too.

Seriously though, whats the point of an unlimited download limit if your speeds are too crap to utilise it.

Ice will be oversubscribed and have all the torrent users on it if they can actually provide a service. That's why IBB started throttling torrents. The same crap was happening on their network.

Nobody can do unlimited download, there is always a fair usage policy (hidden download amount before they limit you).

I second that statement. Up to now metro has been massive in Portlaoise until Ice moved in some months ago. Now nearly every 3rd house in Portlaoise which has a metro antenna on it has an Ice antenna on it also. Obvious sign heavy users are switching over! Wont be long before their network is affected in Portlaoise also.

Not in your area, but I am a customer and a fairly happy one at that. Hopefully somebody in your area can give you more applicable feedback.

I got it installed in Murroe about three weeks ago. I knew the risk but decided it was worth taking as it's the only alternative to dial-up here...

I'll let the speedtest results speak for themselves... As you can see, we've only gone over the 1mb mark on two occasions.

Still at least your getting above dial up speeds so its better than some wireless operators and better than 3 who can't even connect some of their users.
