Buying Photoshop

Hi, Wheres the best place to buy PS? I was thinking about logging on to the adobe US site and buying from there (what with the current strength of the dollar to the euro). Is this a worthwhile way of doing to save money? I presume that would mean i would have to download it from them as opposed to getting a cd? What would the minimum (comfortable) pc specs i would need? Cheers!

You can get a full 30 day trial from ftp.adobe.com. You can purchase a licence from there.
You can still pick up legacy versions, for example:

PS 7 was an excellent version and should have everything you need. After that you can cheaply enough upgrade to CS3.

PS likes lots of RAM so I'd reccommend at least 1 gig and a fairly decent CPU. Graphics power isn't much of an issue but I think CS3 can utilise your GPU (or at least it was supposed to). CS3 is also fond of multi core CPUs.

Edit: you can upgrade to CS3 from v7 for €200

So if you get a cheap copy of 7 you could save some cash.

Its hard to believe i could pick up CS2 for £55 and then just upgrade. I wonder is it too good to be true??

almost definately, yes
-edit- in fact they actually have CS3 extended there for the bargain price of 65 euros ! Astonishing ! So basically you're paying 65 euros to get SOMEONE ELSE to get it off bit-torrent :-)

you cannot buy from US Adobe from here - you have to have a US billing address. I tried:D
