I'm a big fan of watching angling on You Tube and thought it would be good to share some of the better clips. I'll post one every few days and hope a few others will join me.

This Irish chap, Alan Hanna, has done some great programs.
Here's one on catching pollack and cooking it, great stuff.

He also did a few others including a great 10 minute clip on catching carp in Northern Ireland. Great to see all the different fishing methods in use.
    talk later, d.

A passion for Angling is right up there ... it communicates the attractions of angling so well.

    whats this, whats this, self-aggrandisement!?
    well, why not....

those passion for fishing videos are truely outstanding.

bought a couple of Irish books in a book fair yesterday, A.C Luce's Thinking and Fishing and A Man May Fish by a great humanitarian T.C. Kingsmill Moore. Really looking forward to spending a few evenings by the fire having a good read.

If you are looking for a contemporary writer give yourself a Christmas treat and buy The Accidental Angler by Charles Rangeley Wilson. Light hearted journalistic pieces but beautifully written.

Finally theres a wonderful 3 dvd pack which was originally called the Benson & Hedges Fly Fishing with Arthur Oglesby, made in 1983 I think. They are just great, lovely and old fashioned, i think the ciggie name has been dropped though. I got them from play.com for 20 euro but you can get them from Henry's fishing tackle shop for about 30-35, just in time for your xmas stocking.

if anyone wants to give me their favourite book choice just go right ahead, i'm a demon for collecting old books.

I had written a list of cool clips but the system ate it. Instead here's one of a chap getting away lucky in keeping his fingers against a pike!

Tx for the recommendations, still working my way through them.

I've watched 5 of the 6 available on google a few times each and I've got a funny feeling that they may be the best tv series I've ever seen. As good as its possible to make.

There's one though that i can't find online without getting into the torrent thingee which i don't want to do. Its called 'Autumn Glory'. Anyone seen it out there.

I think i'll just buy the series on dvd from hugh miles who shot it.

btw Henry's tackle is having a february sale, i bought a few things at good prices. check out his website or better yet just call him or call by the shop next to annesley motors in ballybough. i don't normally recommend shops but he didn't try to flog this amateur 2nd rate stuff i won't ever use and i appreciate that.
