Just curious if anyone here has imported a Jap car themselves rather than going through a dealer/agent etc - I've been looking around at some Jap sites and I am seeing some pretty good deals even taking the VRT into consideration. However throwing another 10-15% or whatever dealers charge can be a big difference. Anyone…

here's a quick break down for one I was considering recently

C&F Price: (incl shipping to Dublin) €2,704
Customs & Excise @ 30% of retail : €638.4
Clearance agent: €130
Docks handling fees: €110
VRT @ 30% of OMSP (€1359): €407
Total: €3989.4

Note that you would also need to have a complete service done on the car once you get it, including timing belts etc, as these cars have no service history.
