I am using a macbook pro for my photos. I want to edit a photo to take out all the colour except for one. Anyone if its possible and how I would go about doing it. All help appreciated.

Probably more suited to the digital darkroom in the photography forum.

    Moved...

I really don't think it's something that can be accomplished in iPhoto though. You have a very limited set of photo manipulation tools in there.

    I don't think it's possible in iPhoto.

You can get a 30 day free trial of Photoshop off the Adobe website, or you can try a free image editor like The Gimp though, both of which will allow you selectively colour an image.

iphoto is very limited.. from the little amount of time I've spent using it, I'd highly doubt its possible to do what you want to. Do what fajitas suggested above.

Yep... I got a new MacBook pro the other day and it has the latest version of iPhoto on it... and although it has a lot more features for adjusting a photo than it used to... there is no way to selectively remove colours.

Katie will probably shout at me for saying this ( :p ), but I've never been too taken with iPhoto. It's just too limited in it's indexing abilities to be much use to me out of the box.

I don't know of any...well, beginner level editor that allows any kind of selective colourisation: You'd definately need to try the Gimp or Gimpshop. And there's no better time! 2.4 was recently released, which features a huge update to it's toolset and features, although a UI update is still in the works. You can get it for OS X here.

Not to completely put down iPhoto, it has a few really excellent features such as allowing you to export a slideshow in .mov format.

Hi incolor, if this is a one off thing you need done, PM me if you like I can do it for you in photoshop. Or you can download a 30-day free trial of photoshop from adobe.com if you want to try it yourself.
