So do you think, that they're not blocking the p2p servers (Soulseek, e-mule etc.) and all this mess with p2p software not connecting through NTL is just because they installed the new router?

Cause if they would block them, you wouldn't be able to connect at all, but now you can connect, but the connection goes on and off all the time. Innit?

The thought of not being able to use Soulseek gives me chills...

TBH I don't know for sure but I don't think the UBR is the problem more the ip address range in use.

del.icio.us did work at one stage with NTL - then it stopped working all of a sudden for me.

With the NTL nameservers Traceroute shows:

That's sad that we have to resort to proxying around the problem. :(

we should all complain, this is absolutely ridiculous.

so far the list in this thread alone is
    http://del.icio.us
    Geocities
    Zshare
    archive.org
    http://www.netvibes.com
    Imagevenue.com
    imageshack

all popular sites and im sure there are more. this coupled with their crippling not even close to advertised speeds is getting out of hand. We should not be sitting back and taking this.

I for one am contemplating action and will be informing them of this.

    http://del.icio.us/ doesn't work.
    geocities never worked for me.
    archive.org works fine
    netvibes.com works fine
    imagevenue.com works fine
never had any problems with imageshack

soulseek still doesn't work (for a month now?) as well as dc++ by the way.

I'm with you on that one mate! Thankfully, I'm moving house in January so I may be able to get a better ISP than NTL.

i've initiated my complaints procedure. WHEN they dont get back to me I have someone in ComReg who said he will follow it up directly with NTL.

I've had the same problems - trouble with torrents and a complete inability to connect to soulseek for more than a few seconds. I have no problem with them limiting speeds but completely cutting off soulseek is too much. I've had some success with Relakks but it gets disconnected quite frequently and I have to set it to automatically reconnect.

    Check out this thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055132322&highlight=ntl+torrent

It's crazy that I need to pay a third party in order to make use of ntl's service. I'd be happy to pay ntl whatever they need to charge me for my usage.

    Pfft

Dont ever bother your arse emailing or calling NTL. It is a complete waste of time. You need to write letters. And keep writing letters until you get a response.

(BTW, everytime I hear or see those three letters N - T - L, my heart skips a beat!)

Just moved to a new gaff and had NTL 6mb BB installed. In my old place, I could never get soulseek to work. So when I connected just now, I was delighted.

Within 10 minutes, I was disconnected and it will not reconnect. Exact same as in my old place

Without a doubt, NTL are BLOCKING SOULSEEK

Well, del.icio.us is working for me again. Yay!

Anyone else having difficulties connecting to NTL? I've been noticing slowdowns and once lost connection recently. Today the modem won't connect. It just sits there with send flashing and won't turn off or do anything.

I'm wondering if that's related to all these changes they seem to be making.

I was wondering about delicious too, glad to have that riddle solved.

I reported this to NTL last week and a guy from BB support just called. He was helpful and friendly. I told him it wasn't a local issue, people here had it he said that he was aware of del.icio.us and it is now fixed, he then said that this should fix the other issues that people were experiencing with the other sites.

If people are still seeing these issues, please report them to NTL. I know there is a vibe that it is pointless but I didn't expect a call back and got one. If people aren't reporting problems, then they definitely won't fix them.
