I'm pretty sure I've got all the necessary modifiactions in place to
operate my Supra at up to 2 bar / 29 PSi.
This should give me about 450bH.

The car's got the original, standard Supra engine,
can this engine handle this amount of power or would I
    be risking blowing it?

I dont know if that would give 450BHP man, the internals on the supra could handle 2 bar occasionally but not daily. For conatant 2 bar pressure you should get some new forged pistons and high strength seals. what mods have you got done to it?

    Upgraded turbos,
    Fuel Cut Defender,
    Decat + New Exhaust System,
    Intercooler,
    Upgraded fuel pump,
    Apexi Air / Fuel Controller.

I'm not that familiar with petrol turbo engines,
    any advice would be appreciated.

Are you running fueling mods like a rrfpr?? Running a FCD without supporting fueling mods mean bye bye engine!!

    Thanks for your advice.
Would the Apexi Fuel Controller not take care of the need to increase fuel pressure as boost pressure increases.
I've also gotten an increased capacity fuel pump and
    550cc injectors.
I've read bad reports from people using rrprs.
Like I said, turbo's are new to me
    so forgive my ignorance...

Would you consider an Apexi PFC ? You will be able to keep an eye on everything through the Commander, Knock levels ect...

What's the diffences between the Apexi S-AFC and
    the PFC?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭2qk4u

The PFC is a complete replacement ECU.It comes with a base map and then you get your car mapped to suit your modifications. Its about the safest way protect your car from blowing up.You car is not mapped for Irish fuel so you will be having all sorts of peoblems.

Yeah, I've been concerned about the fuel.
I was thinking the best thing to use would be that new Esso E5.
I think it's got a higher Octane level.

Am I right in thinking that the S-AFC will take care of any fueling
problems caused by increased boost pressure?

I wouldnt put it under pressure without sorting out the fueling first.High boost is no use when you melt a piston because the engine is runing too lean or too rich.

Sorry again if I'm a bit slow on the uptake but presuming I was running the car on proper fuel would the
S-AFC, upgraded fuel pump and larger injectors not
    sort out the fueling problems?

I think so, ive allways used replacement ecu's. The lads in Supras Ireland.net will put you right..

Cheers mate, thanks for your help.
Getting the ECU remapped is something I intend to look into in the future.
I think I'll keep the boost pressure to a max of 1.5 bar for now.
I'm sure that's more than enough.
I only want to get the most possible bHP when I put
it on a rolling road to get a measurement.

Yeah, thats a good idea mate, keep her at 1.5 bar and you wont fry any pistons!lol..rrfprs can be tricky and inacurate if you havent got a strong actuator etc so if your worried about it I would reccomend going with the Apexi PFC ECU, ive heard nothing but good things about it. And just make sure you sort your fuelling out before you put it on the RR!!
Good luck with your car man!
