Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Roaming South Korea

Hi there everyone, I am leaving to South Korea in a few months for a 2 year contract at the Ministry of Education. I have spoken to a few friends of mine who said it will take me a while to get a mobile phone once I get there, Ideally I would like to be able to get on the plane and when I land text a few folks to say that I have landed and made it safely. Does anyone know of any networks that roam in South Korea. I have spoken to 3 and they do not roam there, I have just checked the vofafone website and it doesn't look like they do though I found another website saying that they did? Any ideas?

with meteor you have to top up by €60 to activate roaming in most places so they're right out and neither o2 or vodafone have korea listed.

you might just have to find a pc and send a webtext, making it clear that they can't text you back of course

As previous reply says - you'll have to log onto a pc - in South Korea this will be NO PROBLEM - PC Bangs (rooms) EVERYWHERE, including the airport, well Incheon anyway. As for getting a phone, I don't remember having any problems. Get a Korean to go to the phone shop with you. You'll need your passport and your residents card. If you get really stuck go to Itaewon they'll sell anything to anyone there! Fabulous country - enjoy!

GSMWorld states that 3 roam with KT Freetel Co., Ltd (KTF)

there is no GSM in Korea so Meteor probably don't roam there, you'd need a 3G phone. Even if Three roam there do the texts work?
