CO2 on VRT only or Motor tax also

    Anyone know if there are plans to introduce CO2 based annual motor tax or is it only VRT that is changing?

    Todays sunday business post says there will be a 10% increase on road tax and does not mention a link to Co2

    Road tax will change on 1/7/08, don't know if it will only apply to new cars or to any car where the CO2 rating is available(they have been out there for almost 6 years at the very least, 2002 was the year the UK changed it's company car tax system to an emissions based one), but it will be changed to an emissions based road tax system from then.
