Why is SF still the mouthpiece of the IRA?

We all know that SF has supposedly cut ties to the IRA, and I'd love to believe that was true, but if it is why are the talking to the media about the death of the young man in Monaghan/Cavan (can't remember which one) in which the IRA is supposed to be involved? Surely the IRA are big enough to speak for themselves? SF…

Surely the IRA are big enough to speak for themselves? SF are only getting in the way of the police investigation by speaking on behalf of the IRA.
