    Bo11ox to that!! :D

Nice to see siralfalot come to the defence of the French...oh, wait, hang on :D Do you want to go get sirpugalot? :D

On topic; yeah I'd never buy a Toyota - except for a MR2,
    or a Nissan, except for a 350Z
or another VW, except a Mki, 11 or V GTi
    or a Daewoo...yeah or a Daewoo.
Oh or a Hyundai. Does that clear it up?

I just dont like korean cars....somthing about them, ordinary mary/joe mobile with no taste, I use to like the hyundai coupe but I would not spend my own money on one.

Whatever the old man has in the driveway in the moment, apart from any of those listed? ;)

    Most probably!
Anyway, I suppose I should stick to the topic and answer the original question with Lada. I wouldn't ever buy a Lada cause they're horrible looking, and I did research them and none of them have enough power to make any use on a forrestry road of the rear wheel drive, making them useless!
Other than that, I can't think of any I'd rule out completely.

I'll never buy a Toyota for personal use except maybe a Camry. They're the most over-rated cars in the world, they're not as reliable as people say, totally unrefined with carp interiors and MOST (only most, not all) toyota owners have believed the hype to the extent of brainwashing IMO.

The cars themselves are OK but I never want to belong to that club.

They're slogan should have this small addition 'not bothered enough about cars to prove or believe otherwise??.....Toyota: the best built cars in the world'.:D

Toyota stopped making interiors out of fish a few years ago. they're using plastic again.

To think that any other car manufacturer isn't in it for the money is naieve.

    Mercedes

Just too vulgar (apart from S class)

Wouldn't regard the A, B, or CLS as vulgar either

You sure? The Avensis is still pretty dire... Cororlla/Auris much nicer though in fairness. I agree about Toyotas not being anything special in the reliability stakes... Toyotas customer services makes up a lot for this though.

To be fair, any cars I sold in 07 that have given me hardship have been non Toyotas.

The Avensis has been around since 03, and while it's not to everyone's taste, it is well built.

I'd have to disagree with you regarding the CLS, it's an E-class without the class.

without the comfort too! they're tiny inside (but sweet to drive!)
They're eye catching and very elegant. wouldn't call them Vulgar.

I dunno colm, I think they're quite tacky.:)

What exactly is the point of this thread when you are making silly contradictions like the above, you have posted a ridiculous thread in the motors forum which is populated by people who are interested in motors, what response were you hoping for exactly sensible people don't discredit 95% of all cars available to buy in ireland just because of the badge, by your own admission you would not drive the following cars based purely on the badge on the bonnet

    Audi R8

    Toyota supra

    nissan 350z

    fiat punto abarth

    mitsubishi evo

as you can see by the above this thread is irrelevant to motor fans as your opinion is ridiculously foolish

I never said I would not drive them; I said I would not buy them. :)

So you make sweeping generalizations about car makes, then make more about hot hatches from these manufacturers. Is the 205gti or the honda integra Type R, both thrilling FWD cars of their generation, worse because they have a body kit? Just because a car has "go faster stripes" you clearly declare it is no good. Judging every car by the badge on the bonnet is stupid. You can make sweeping generalisations, but they are incorrect at best. BMW make fine cars and I have enjoyed driving several. On the other hand, i drove an E36 316 and this was far from the ultimate driving machine! A spin in an M3 will convince you BMW can make great cars. As for opel, VXR astras, Corsas etc are the name of the game today. Back in the 90's they had the red-top astras, coming with one of the most bullet proof N/a engines of the decade.

So, if you come to the motors forum and make stupid uneducated generalizations then expect some backlash. Back up your points with evidence at least. I can safety say you probably never drove an escort cosworth or an M3.

I think you are just browned off that somebody has gone on record saying that they would not buy a Beemer.

I agree with all of the marques listed here. Have you any personal experience of the horrors that Hyundai peddle as automobiles?

I left out Lada and I've never driven any of them so am not in a position to comment, however, if the consensus is correct, I'd probably have to rule out ever buying one!

I actually could not agree more about Toyotas, an extremely overrated marque with all the character of Naomi Campbell sans makeup.

I would advise you against a Camry, my uncle owned an automatic one and it was clunky, unresponsive, unrefined, noisy and actually did stink now that it has been mentioned earlier in this thread. It could have been my uncle, but that is unconfirmed speculation.
