    Hey Guys!
My friend is doing a computer course in GMIT an dhe hates it so he wants to change to a science course next year? Will the college let him transfer to a different course and what would be the story with transfer fees?

More than likely he going to have to apply for the course like he did for his current course (CAO). Even if it's in the same department I don't think it's that easy to transfer but he's talking about changing departments as well.

I'm not 100% myself so unless someone else here can help I suggest for him to go to careers advisor upstairs in the library, even though it can be difficult to get a hold of anyone there sometimes.

    Hey mate.

I done the exact same thing as you. Dropped out two years ago and went and did Business. Basicially your friend should fill in the CAO straight away and formally drop out. You won't incur fee's if it's first time changing and you don't complete the year(as in don't take the end of year exams). Provided he is in first year and the course is on the same level as the one he took before he will be allowed changed. He can't move up from a Level 7 course to a Level 8 one though. He will incur fees if he does this.

    Hope that helps.

Oh right...He was gonna finish the year but that means he will have to pay fees for next year...
