That doesn't really add up Channaigh. OT: What is your diet like?

xenical is a prescription medication and outside of the realm of the board. If you only have two stone to lose why do you need medication? What's wrong with diet and exercise?

This is a study. Found by using google.

it's well documented that xenical works, but I just can't allow discussions of its use in detail given that it's a prescription med.

But my issue is why, if the OP isn't obese, have they been prescribed it (only the GP can answer that of course) but more importantly why diet and nutrition isn't sufficent for them to lose 2 stone?

once a week take away usually on a sat like a pizza or burger

with a pt doing food diarys and everything thats why i went to the doctor

Without knowing your age/ height/ current weight I'd actually hazard a guess that you're undereating right now. And why bother with the take-away if you're trying to lose weight?

If you have a PT what kind of advice are they giving you? And what's your training like?

i'm 5'6 12 stone eat fruit in between meals in work. my pt is getting so mad with me but knows i'm doing the work cause she shes me in the gym when i'm meant to be there. she told me to go to the doctor i have a low resting heart rate. she works by monitoring the heart rate so when i'm training i can't go past 150. i feel i could work harder but i'm always watchin my bpm

Are you doing any weight training? cardio alone isn't optimal for weight-loss. Perhaps take a look in the fitness forum for ideas, do a search on weight training for women, or start a thread looking for some help.

There's also a lot of info in the stickies in this forum about eating well. Your diet lacks proteins and good fats, and you're eating a lot of sugar (albeit 'natural' fruit sugar).

Your breakfast for example is sugar-based. How about oats or weetabix, or even better some eggs? Eat small portions of nuts as snacks and add seeds to salads or spirnkle on veg to get your good fats in.

Your PT should really be able to provide you with detailed meal plans and encourage, not condemn, you if you're finding it hard.

I'm around the same age as you (28 on Friday :D) and I've noticed it's getting a little harder to lose weight if I put it on too.

BUT I've also learned some tried and tested methods for lsoing weight when I need to, and doing weight training is a BIG part of that.

Diet-wise I eat tons of green veg (I go through 2 or 3 bags of frozen broccoli a week!!), lots of lean meat like chicken and turkey that fills me up, and strangely enough keep my fats high with nut and seed oils. It takes a bit of getting used to but fats help keep you fuller for longer - a bowl of scrambled eggs in the morning easily keeps me ticking over for hours and I have to remind myself to eat mid-morning.

Bread, pasta, rice and starchy foods are just *too* easy to rely on, and we don't need nearly as much of it in our diets as we think. Perhaps initially you could try restricting them to just one meal a day?

Oh and of course get as much water in as you can; 2-3L of plain water a day would be fantastic. Green tea will help a little too ;)

I find sunday a great day for shopping and preparing food for the week, frozen vegetables are great but i sometimes even chop up the fresh veg for a few days in advance, makes it alot quicker to cook dinner

All you need to do is plan your meals, and then shop to suit them. There are no hard and fast rules but there is loads of info in the stickies that would help!!

I find that once you stock your fridge properly, it's as quick to eat well as to eat rubbish.

For instance, it takes the same length of time to scramble a couple of eggs or make an omlette as it does to toast a bit of bread, and it's faster than making coffee.

You can cook a piece of lean steak or fish in minutes, and if you have a good non-stick pan, you can throw some vegetables in alongside it and do them both at once.

Salmon and chicken breasts will cook in about ten minutes on a pan or 20 minutes in an oven with some interesting spices.

Make sure you have plenty of cottage cheese, nuts and seeds handy for snacking. I can give you some recipes for interesting things to do with cottage cheese if you don't like the taste. Keep some hard boiled eggs handy, and make sure there is tinned fish in your cupboard. Keep some frozen berries in your freezer, you can use them to make smoothies.

A good rule of thumb is not to buy anything where one of the first five ingredients is sugar. And try to avoid transfat altogether.

Keep track of measurements and Body fat % if you can. Weight it not a great guide. I can easily flucuate 7lb depending on hydration level. I can easily drink 4 pints in a pub without going for a wee, that is 5lb weight right there.

And if you are using a different scale forget about it altogether.

Get a tape measure and just measure yourself every couple of weeks. If your waist is shrinking, it doesn't matter what the scales say, you are losing bodyfat.
