    you/r poor deprived children/childhoods.

Bah, a childhood without copious quantities of sugar is a deprived childhood. What other stage in life can you stick pretty much anything in a sugar bowl and think its an improvement. You've to be all reserved in adulthood. Oh yes my wine doesn't taste like vinegar. No I don't want to mix all 10 flavours of TK, yes, E number foods Are evil.

Bloody kids have all the luck

Oh God sugar sandwiches that takes me back. I used to love eating them as a kid! Oh and also we used to get a tablespoon, scoop it in a bit of proper farmers butter then dip it in a bowl of sugar and eat it. Only did it the once each time but it was lovely. I'd say if i tired to do it now i'd either get sick or have a heart attack...

Fizzy orange!!!!!!! ye were priviliged - we had to add andrews (YUK! when I think about it) to diluted orange to make it fizzy - it did clean out all the worms from the sugar sandwiches i suppose :)

I think the mini bottles are gone. plus you can't share a mini bottle, don't be selfish, just use your womanly weakness to your advantage and get some nice chap to carry them for you.

    Not me, I'm lazy.

If the banana and sugar combo didn't suit try this one - mash banana, crush tayto and mix together in a bowl. Prepare your bread and add mixture - mmmmmmmmmmm :) Enjoy with tea/coffee or bevy of your choice

Now I can't remember whether we were given this delight when we were good or bad, but for whatever reason, every couple of days, a cup of black tea was plonked in front of us. Into this was added torn up pieces of white bread, crusts 'n all, and a spoonful of sugar added.

    Result?

    Sweet mushy bread-tea. Called Goody.

    It was not Good.

You know what. I'm gonna splash out and buy some tomorrow for my dessert. And. I. Might. Buy. Sprinkles.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 422 ✭✭RAFC

You can still buy those Soda Streams, I've seen them in Tesco. Often tempted to buy one but have a mad 7yr old who could possibly blow up the house with the bottle of gas :)

Well, they call it strawberry, but I think it was just pink flavoured.

I'm definitely getting some tomorrow. I will let you know the results. I may even take a picture. Your kids will never forgive you if you don't introduce them to the pink flavoured Angel Delight! Do it! :D

Sweets and goodies are so commonplace and readily available these days for kids that it's very hard to make ANYTHING seem like a treat!

When we thought a treat was a soda-stream or jelly and ice-cream (or on extremely lucrative days we'd maybe get a choco-ice each!!!! ) most kids would turn their noses up at that nowadays and ask for a 7-up/sprite/coke or a tangle-twister/clippo etc.....they now have their preferences at a much earlier age! :(

I know, nothing is exciting anymore. Santa will be bringing lots of great things to my little one, but she has so much already I fear she won't even get excited Christmas morning.

We used to get a box of tayto crisps at christmas and it was like all our christmasses had came together! Means feck all for a child to have crisps of other goodies in the presses nowadays :(

I can remember every Christmas getting bars of chocolate with blue minty bits in them, I think they were called Icebreakers - I never saw them in any shop, so I was convinced they could only be gotten in the North Pole. :)

    We really were easily satisified.

I do love Christmas morning though - love to watch their faces :):):)

I want to have a party like I used to, with soda stream, and jelly and ice cream, butterfly buns, and rice krispie buns, themed cake- made by mum- and popcorn and taytos.

Pass the parcel, and murder in the dark, pin the tail on the donkey, cocktail sausages. maybe even sambos, jellies,

Ghost stories and 52. Cops and robbers, (we took prisoners and guarded them)

Oh the fun we used to have. Heck just add alcohol and I reckon we would all be delighted

    * goes on happy venture back to the 80s/ early 90s and fun parties........

Nope- its like hide and seek, you have 52 seconds to hide, and you have to catch some one by saying "52 bunkers I caught xxx". You can save yourself by calling out "52 bunkers save my soul", the last person hiding can save every one by calling "52 bunkers save all souls"

Theses all have to be said while you are touching the "bunker" (the tree/pole etc ehere you counted)

Anyone fancy a game of kerbs? (how do you spell that?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭pretty-in-pink

    kerb to kerb?

Oh, polio was a fun game. AS was red rover, and umm british bull dog

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 422 ✭✭RAFC

We used to call that 'kick the can' - same concept, polio - never heard of, and I really can't remember any british bull dog.

Remember playing tennis when Wimbledon was on, and we used to make our own 'horse jumps' when the Showjumping was on - crikey we all wanted to be Eddie Macken :) we were so easily pleased.

We never said we were bored because there would be a job to do if we were

British bulldog, that was no less than carnage. Banned very quickly in school as I recall.

I can't remember exactly, there was a group charging at another and you had to grab someone and hold them for some amount of time. It just became a bloodsport though, as in no holding, just f*ck them onto the ground as best you can and run off.

We called that 40/40 I think. Of course you had to shout out 'no close quarters' before you started counting, or else everyone could just stand touching the pole and save themselves the second you stopped counting. :D
