Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've got to buy a new Sony K580i as a present but the only problem is it only comes as a bill phone.

I was wondering if I bought a bill pay version and unlocked it could I use a credit sim card in the phone afterwards.

I've been told I can't which is strange as it kinda defeats the purpose of unlocking

    Regards

Well if you buy it as a bill phone, you'll be bound under contract and thus be liable for line rental for the duration of such contract.

But yes, you will be able to use a credit sim.

just to be completely clear on this, if the credit customer that you're buying the phone for is on the same network as the bill phone you intended to buy, then no unlocking would be necessary

e.g., the person is on vodafone ready to go and you buy a vodafone bill phone. then the person can put their ready to go sim straight in.

of course, as Sean_K says, the problem here is that you'd be stuck with a contract

The joys of cheap upgrades on Bill (esp when its your brothers bill and doesn't want a new phone) I got my 6300 brand new for €30.

or another option is to buy one sim free at somewhere like CPW for a few hundred.

If your phone is unlocked you can use any SIM in it.
(the only exception being a 3 SIM card, unless it's a 3G phone).

    Now, closed the thread.
