Sorry to hi-jack a little here but what is the deal with single speed bikes?

How does it work out up and down hills without gears?

Is that why you are selling?

It works like any bike up and down hills, you pedal, and move!

It's (sometimes) harder to go uphill, as you've only one gear, but it's possible, and the challenge can be fun sometimes!

Going down, it's all about spinning your little legs as fast as they can go!

Hard to describe why I like riding fixed, but I don't think I'd go back now :D

Also the paddy wagon comes with a flip hub which means you can have it fixed or singlespeed.

Excuse the ignorance but what is the difference between fixed and singlespeed? Are they not the same thing?

A singlespeed has a freewheel so you can stop pedaling and coast along.

    A fixed-wheel has a ... fixed-wheel so you must pedal whenever you're moving.

They're ultra-low maintenance and the directness of the transmission is very satisfying.

A fixed gear helps you develop a very smooth peddling action & generally encourages spinning rather than cranking. It also gives exceptional control and stopping ability in slow-moving traffic.
