Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Ladies,

Serious question. I want to know the easiest way to keep yours bald. ;)
How do you do it? You know what I mean.
My wife tried just shaving and didn't find it very comfortable or easy to do and keep done.
    Any handy tips? :)

    Hollywood?

Ive seen a fair few designs, but never got around to asking the name of such.

Is the Hollywood like a "stripe"

no, that's a Brazilian. Hollywood is total hair removal (as in 100%!!)

    Thanks :)

I dont think 100% is a great idea.. it can cause problems with Ingrowing hairs and one of them can be very sore if it gets infected. I know a woman that happened to. Ouch (i cant picture the pain but ouch none the less :D)

you won't get ingrown hais if you get it permanently removed like I did (see my thread in LL re Hoolywood laser) ;)

Well plenty of my friends just get the brazilian or even just a bikini line wax...you can get ingrown hairs from any type of waxing, on any part of the anatomy. I've never experienced an ingrown hair after a hollywood, because I've always followed the aftercare for about a week after (tea tree cream applications). ;)

before I went the laser route I used to get waxed and the ingrown hairs were a killer - for some reason I got really bad ones - like spots.. I've even some small scars now so I really needed to knock it on the head. Waxing's deffo not for everyone ;)

Scars! Jesus! It's weird cos I would get ingrown hairs on my legs a fair bit...but I assume that's cos I'm lazy about exfoliating em etc. I'm only a relatively recent waxing convert (well, down there anywho!)....but it's an acquired taste I know! A friend of mine almost fainted when she got her bikini line done!

when I say scars I mean red marks, only one or 2, and they're not that unsightly I spose but needless to say I'd prefer not to have them all over my fanny!! LOL

Im going to ask another dumb question.

Why do you get the Hollywood or Brazilian done rather than a trim or a bikini line?

Is it purely a personal thing, or to please your partners prefrence?

The first time I did it was out of pure curiosity! It's a bit of a shock to the system going from all to nothing! I remember I kept looking down and being like "oh my god....!" Didn't think I'd do it again. But then I decided, no I like it! I would find it advantageous in that it's very hygienic and also I would find for the few days after you are super sensitive when it comes to sexy time...never a bad thing!

My boyfriend would have witnessed the transformation so to speak (well, not the actual act ) and it's fair to say he loved what he saw. But he had never hinted or made any comments about going down that route.

dunno really, personally I HATED the hair down there... don't know why. It helps that OH likes it but that was never the driving force behind getting it done. I started off just wanting the sides done but when I saw how good the results were I just wanted more and more of it gone!
however, I am suprised that some people feel so strongly about the hollywood look - some say they would fear men liking that look as it has prepubescent/paedo overtones. I was shocked when I read that in some of the posts! Wonder is that common opinion??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,556 ✭✭✭✭AckwelFoley

Personally i find it very attractive when there is a degree of "grooming" done down there.
for 2 reasons. Firstly, it tends to imply good personal Hygene and secondly it just looks great :D

From my own personal prefrence i find it a Major turnoff when you are with somone for the first time and you get greeted with a wilderness that would make Sherwood forest look like a small clump of overgrowth in me back yard.

But I've also heard (from males) that lots of men like the 'hairy and straggly' look:eek:
I' dlike to be open-minded and say each to their own but WTF!!!??? lol

I've never understood this. Even before I waxed. The man you are with knows you are a woman. Presumably he guessed from your breasts and hips! He was attracted to your face, not your nether region. Unless you are an online porn star or something, he saw the rest of you before he knew what you sported down below. Thus I don't understand the logic behind linking paedophilia with personal grooming choices of grown women.

well the thinking is definitely out there. One poster said they would seriously question a mans intention/orientation if they liked the bald look.
    mad innit??

No, they were just being abrasive cnuts.

They are probab;y saying that because they are too lazy or afraid to get it done...

    .. probably too lazy.

Personally I prefer a totally clean shaved/waxed pussy & ass.

As for myself, I trim, very tight.

i bought a kit to wax myself yesterday. i... may need some help with this... in an advice kinda way.. has anyone here actually waxed themselves?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

Here's a tip: don't apply more than one strip at a time. That may sound like a weird thing to say, but don't do it.

Because trust me, you'll only yank the first one off, like a trooper, with no idea how it's going to feell...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

it's not in strips! it's hard wax, i microwave it, and then apply it, in small sections it says... which means what? 1/4 at at time? an inch? i have no idea! and... there's no strips, i think i just rip the wax itself off after 30secs or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭DetectivFoxtrot

Don't do it Crumble Froo - leave that area to the pro's. there's going to be areas that you can't see so you won't get it right.... tried it meself once - went black and blue

A true hollywood is where the strip that is left is dyed blonde. brazillian - is where a small strip is left.

Midna has no genitals. Or any body hair at all.

She just spends her whole time riding on Link's back, the lazy little imp.

Actually, she has red hair, which she uses as an arm and weapon :p

Someone hasn't gotten very far in the game.

Be careful not to overheat the wax... did that once.. ouchies!!!!

What brand of wax did you get?

I do a brazilian/hollywood myself, i'm kinda lucky that i'm able to bend in weird ways and stuff hehe!! I do have 3 beauty therapist friends, might get them to do it sometime!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 938 ✭✭✭chuci

lil smiler what wax do you use? i can bend in funny ways and have access to strong pain relief so would like to try this waxing lark myself first instead of paying for the pain.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,183 ✭✭✭Puddleduck

Ive done brazilians myself and my personal preferance would be to use the strips NEVER the stuff you heat up, the hard stuff just seems to hurt sooooo much more

I just get the Veet strips, the ones that come in the box. i have bought the one you heat up in the microwave every now and then but I don't like when I have to try walk like John Wayne down the stairs to heat it up again!! And I just find the strips work better!!

I just bend, put a leg here, put a leg there, stretch this and that bit of skin and it works for me!!

best bet is wax strips. are you just doing a 'tidy up' or are you taking it all off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭john_aero

depends on mood, i usualy have it all off or else leave the top trimmed an get rid of the rest

for 'all off' you should go to a salon - seriously! they're well used to doing men aswell as women ;)

waxing doesn't cost too much - bout €30 quuid. And people say hair growth gradually decreases.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭john_aero

ya maybe, trouble is certain areas could be some pain to get done.hahaha.

will have to give it some more taught. may just try the strips at some point

certain areas ARE painful - trust me... just pop 2 Neurofen+ beforehand! DIY job will be just as sore - even more so in fact!!

Brazillian hot wax is the only way to go.
Once you get over the shock of showing of your bits and pieces to some strange woman (it helps to remember that she's spent the who day looking at a dozen different muffs) it's grand. I find the most discomfort comes from the position you have to hold rather than the hair removal.
It's so much easier, quicker and pain-free than trying to do it yourself!
