    Hey girls,

City Centre wise Brazilia is your only bet....the Lycon wax means the difference in pain levels is astounding. It's incomparably less "ouch" than elsewhere in town.

I'm not sure if was on here or another website but I remember reading about girls wondering where Ellen from Brazilia had disappeared to. I never had her as my waxer in Brazilia but apparently she was the business. Anyway, just passing on the message that she owns her own salon in Dun Laoghaire (Waxperts.......http://www.waxperts.ie) and it's the only place I'll be going for my Hollywood now! The decor is gorgeous, Ellen is so lovely and personable and is the best waxer I've had. Anywho, highly recommend!

Can anyone reccomend a salon in Limerick for Brazilian waxing?
I've decided I'm finally brave enough to give it a try but not really sure where to go.

Guys definetly notice, ladies. Ex-boyfriend liked me natural but i prefer to have it ALL gone ALL the time!!! Boots do a great wax thing, you heat the wax on the cooker for a few mins, you get plenty of different size strips or you can cut them to size. If you're ok with brazilian waxing yourself its fab, the wax pot last ages and you can do your legs and everything, much cheaper than the salon price tag, just as effective. It isnt that sore i dont think you get used to it. Shave sometimes but it just doesnt last long at all. Think theres a thing on veet to say dont use around the genitial area, think it can burn or something...

You can do your bikini line with Veet...you can't veet everything off though as you'd get too close to the sensitive area,

+1. It's a 5 minute stroll from the Dart station. Very good waxing experience - I'll be going back.

I'd recommend going to a salon that specializes in this type of waxing. I've been to Urban Wax and they were great. Pain was minimal. Going to Brazilia next week if they can fit me in, always booked out. These girls do it every day so they know how to do it. Not some crappy salon where they might do this type of thing once every 3 months. And also the type of wax they use really makes a difference.

I've had quite a few bad experiences with the waxing abroad, actually every one of them! Nothing worse than a bad wax. So definitely go to a salon that has been recommended to you.

Waxing doesnt work for me as I bruise too easily and have to wait a fortnight for it to go - I find veet the best and I time it so I miss the "burn"

That's happened to me with the bad waxing. I would try Urban Wax or Brazilia and see if there's a difference. Wasn't a mark on me! ;)

If I could get it all lazered off I would. :D

I was told its because I have stretch marks, that the skin is too sensitive, I can handle the pain but it looks awful for quite a while

any recommendations for where to get this done in Galway?

as the place i went to get it done came recommended by a couple of close friends but it was rather painful so i was wondering if maybe there was someone who does it better so theres less pain!??

although they did say if you have sensitive skin that you should continue to build up to it i.e Bikini-californian-brazilian-hollywood, if ya get me!

I love having it ALL gone, ALL the time. :D The worst part about waxing is the fact that the hairs have to be a certain length before the wax can work effectivly, so i often get frustrated and end up taking a blade to it. Not as effective though, doesnt last at all, at all. Luckily my guy is the same as me, likes a bald area. :D . Just a nusuance waiting to get the brazilian done though.

waxing bikini line is fine IMO but would be afraid of the painfactor for all the rest. interested in those of you who "trim" - has anyone trimmmed too much back there leaving the "trimmed" hair feeling a bit stubbly?? thats what i'd be afraid of anyway. plus getting a nip of the scissors... yikes

otherwise it seems it's a case of pain, more pain or yet more pain....

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 tazzi

'no scream cream' is great for taking most of the pain outta waxing and the more you wax i think its less painful, the hair gets thinner and easier to pull out ,and theres a product called 'get the bump outta here' its great to use a day or two after to soothe the skin- 2 days later and my skin is back to normal!theres also a tea tree product my waxer uses immediately after to soothe the skin which is great but i cant remember what its called..now that i get waxed regularly down there i cant go very long with full growth coz it just feels so uncomfortable!its such a shame i have to wait for it to grow back so im thinking of permanent hair removal does anyone know what laser hair removal is like??

I'd shave it completely apart from the landing strip area - it's grand and v smooth but the stubble grows back quick enough. It's not a problem though, not for a while.

I was going to go for an Extended Bikini at the end of the week but after reading this thread I think thats shot to **** now!
My own DIY trim, tidy and veet shower cream will have to do.

By the way, this thread also reminded me of this:

I have been contemplating going for a wax of some shape and description for a while- found the advice really good here, but there is one thing that crosses my mind every time i make an attempt to book an appointment- the exposure!
The thought of being on view down there and being in those awkward positions makes me shudder- thats the one thing that makes me scared of going for a smear test or anything like that also!!
Was anyone ever like this pre-waxing, and how did you overcome it?? Is it uncomfortable to be there exposed??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 65 ✭✭in2dblue

    Hi Bluebell,
Don't let the thought of someone seeing you down below put you off a bikini wax let alone a smear test.
In both instances the people doing them are very qualified in their jobs and are well used to seeing all types of everything down below and don't even bat an eyelid at doing it.
Yeah of course it's embarrassing when you have to take everything off down there to get it done but sure it's no big deal at all to the waxer, it's just all in a days work to them!!
Also please get a smear done and please do not let it put you off the fact that a doctor sees you naked down below, they see lots of people everyday, it's no big deal, go to a well woman clinic if you're not comfortable with your local doctor

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 76 ✭✭Bluebell55

Thanks in2dblue, reply appreciated. I have a few more years before its recommended to get a smear, and I know I will face it when I have to!!! I suppose its just a mind-over-matter thing, and once u get in there and get started its nothing. I remember going for my first spray tan topless when i was 15, but I got over it in a matter of minutes...
Suppose its just a matter of going through that all over again!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 65 ✭✭in2dblue

Ah yeah sure I still do be a tad scarlet when I get a spray tan done myself, especially when I go in and have to strip off to a thong and they tell you put your hands out against the wall, ass facing them to start off lol!!
Waxing is actually less embarrassing as it's just one area they're looking at as oppose to all of it like a spray tan.
Yeah you're right definately mind over matter, hope the waxing goes well when you get it done ;)

the part that worries me about waxing is the apparently drooping affect that i've been told occurs after you wax for years.

Well have to disagree, the bald look always makes me think of swiping my laser card on it.

    Its not natural.

Possible post of decade here imo.

Not if you leave it on for too long and it takes some skin off. OUCH :(

My friend owns a salon so i get it all off in there. With lots of painkillers taken beforehand.

    WHAT??

    Elaborate, please.

i read it and heard that from a beautican. the skin loses its elasticiticity [sic]
the same with eyebrows. i reserve both for special treats and use other methods, maybe i'm being too careful.

I came on this tread cause was thinking of going the whole hog and getting a Hollywood.

Never got it waxed down there before, except one time when i put one of those ready to use wax strips on the front and ended up with a very weird bruse  (bordem will be the death of me i tell ya!)
    but now im having second thoughts after reading this;

spinandscribble;the part that worries me about waxing is the apparently drooping affect that i've been told occurs after you wax for years.

    Is this really true?
I'm aware that it says after waxing for years but think it's a bit mean letting my boyfriend feel smooth tarmack then make him go back to the gravel if you know what I mean

The same with EYEBROWS? Now I'm terrified.

I get my brows waxed twice a month... If I was to pluck them I'd spend six months of the year keeping them at bay.

    Damn black hair. Grrr.

ladies ladies ladies, i dunno what you are all on about! there are too many pages of women moaning about the pain here so maybe this point has been raised already (and im sorry if thats the case!)

im 21 and had never got a brazilian (or any wax at all) done because id heard all this about it bein agony.... well finally plucked up (no pun intended!!) the courage and booked an appointment in Brazilia and went for their brazilian.

all i can say is that i genuinly am such a wimp, no pain threshold at all, but it was grand! it was a tiny bit sore here and there but it was more discomfort than actual pain! and to be honest 99% of everything was takin away!!

giving you all the benefit of the doubt, i know brazilia use a special type of wax designed not to hurt, so maybe i shouldnt moan until i try out the normal wax, but to be honest ive no plans to do that when i can use the non-pain wax in brazilia !! lol you should all just go there :P

No worries hunnymonster - just saw the last comment from moretothegirl and they are using the same wax in CityWax. I went to Brazilia for the Hollywood and was fairly terrified going in but I was really surprised - it wasn't anything near as painful as I had expected so I'm bloody delighted that they will be using the same stuff closer to home. :)
