Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello

Does anybody have any ideas of the civil service/government recruitment practises?

As in I'm a qualified ACA from big 4 and am wondering if I want to end up in the civil service/government as a financial controller or finance director, at what level should i transfer over and at what level do they recruit externally/internally? As in fnancial accountant, finance manager, financial controller or finance director levels?

    Any ideas?

Did you try their website ?

    www.publicjobs.ie

I would think that ifs theres a vacancy for any of the above and it can t be filled internally that they will go exernal. (but thats just a guess)

I know some one that was senior accountant in a company and went for a job in civil service that would have been higher than her present job so would have been akin to a bank manager I would think. She didnt get the job though - it was in the South and there was a lot of applications for it. Interveiws were in Dublin. A few weeks later she got a bank manager job in finance department of a bank so dont know what that is a kin to in civil service.

As for the level - I would guess they would advertise a job at certain level, you go for that level and then they made the decision of who gets the position based on all the applicants experience. Dont think you have to be in a set job as it wouldnt be just Big 4 applicants.
