Agony but not defeat for Skins

What a night of football! Jason Campbell left the game - tragically - with a dislocated knee cap but Todd Collins came off the bench and had a great night - he completed 15 of 20 pass attempts for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Skins take it from the Bears 24 to 16. Playoff hopes still live or maybe not quite dead yet.

In the interview after the game Gibbs praised Collins saying that he was always prepared even when he was benched - the team were all elated especially as it was Sean's funeral week and they had no time to prepare for Thursday's game. Great win! Great job!!

Yes it's good for the redskins. They must be regretting some of those Joe gibbs decisions in earlier games and tight defeats to the giants and bills now.

The Bears will finish .500 at best. They've had a bad season after last year and will surely have to look at the quarterback situation.

Well Gibbs has been far too conservative in recent losses trying to run out the clock when he gets a lead - bad strategy. Not the Gibbs of old at all but what he has going for him is a very close relationship with the team. He's a deeply religious guy and this played out at Sean's death and his eulogy. This is important to the players and they saw in him a real team player - committed to them on a personal level. This IS absolutely the Gibbs of old. I think this went into the win on Thursday. Now we can only wait and see - the Washington Post forum is reporting that Campbell does not need surgery but that his season is probably over . Collins was on TV last night and he seems rearing to go. After the game Gibbs paid him a huge compliment when he said "I don't know that I've ever had a better performance coming off the bench. Ever."
